Names I think are very important and they are not going to appeal to everyone - trying to put it nicely..
Exactly my thinking, I want neither the Menopause nor the Sensible rose.
Oh, not Sense and Sensibility? I am not an obsessive Janeite but I do reread Jane Austen every year or two and would not mind this, P&P and Chawton Cottage some day. The Menopause Charity name might take some getting used to, for sure, but it's really no odder than Huddersfield Choral Society or Parkdirektor Riggers, is it?😁 The one that makes me feel daft when I mention it is "Buff Beauty." Very Arnold Schwarzenegger covered in baby oil.

Have you thought about naming your seedling yet, @pitter-patter?

@agnasia PAoK is for me a sprawling rose, squat and gangly, very inelegant in my border at the start of year 2, trying to take over the lawn and lean into Lady Emma. I think she'd be amazing in a pot!  Mine has a million buds at the moment.

I think since David Austin died, they've lost the plot..

I don't mind the naming Marlorena.. (unless it's too crazy) Hope they don't screw up like last year.. They all could name it something nice and donate to charities.. rather than having to name them after the charity..
No more Harkness purchase, as it was a fail for me last year.. but now I have mailed them as I think they could have send me the wrong rose.. which matches the pics I have.. will see what their response would be...

@cooldoc ok thanks, yes I guess she wouldn’t like bending. Just seems to want to reach for the sky!

I guess it’s only a week until we find out about the new DA rose. Hoping they choose wisely re the celebrity.

Ooh thanks @WAMS, sounds great and I’m really looking forward to seeing all these roses in reality. I’m hoping most will be in bloom but everything seems to be a bit later this year. I had my first Desdemona bloom on 1st May last year.

@agnasia I purchased the obelisk through Etsy from DaltonDesigns. I went for the 2.2m one. Not cheap but reasonably priced for what it is. I also has a solid metal decorative piece on the top which isn’t shown in that picture.

😂😂😂 I’m glad it wasn’t just me thinking naming it the Menopause rose was a poor choice.

Rebekah Vardy? Kerry Katona? The Ant&Dec Rose?

@agnasia yes... both Google Photos and Facebook Memories repeatedly inform me that everything from rosa Eyes for You to my rowan tree were in flower this time last year.
