Oh that's pretty @bullfinch! Do you think it would be happy in a pot?
Ooh sorry, I'm not sure, it isn't on the David Austin web page for being suitable for containers. But they do have a few other pink ones there which they say are happy in pots. It's so hard to choose isn't it?!
Thanks @Marlorena, it is so helpful to have feedback, especially when you have grown them yourself. So of those five St Ethelburga would best suit a pot?
My garden walk through this morning was very disappointing. My “Anna Ford” was doing so well, lots of lovely growth and lots of lovely buds starting to swell. This morning, it was decimated. All new growth gone, all buds disappeared.
Yes, deer have gotten into the garden again. I had raised all the fences, and really thought I cracked the deer-proving this year. I think I might have to give up on roses, unless it’s right by the back door, it is just so disheartening
I know how you feel @Watsonia, I had the same problem at my last house until OH put a high fence around part of it. The garden was too big and complicated to fence it all but at least I had a bit I could grow roses and flowers in. Sending sympathy.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
@Alfie for a big rambler to fill your 6.5x6 outbuilding wall, I think if I had that luxury of space I would choose Albertine, inspired by the fabulous one @JessicaS has eating her shed!
Your pic would be more welcome on a Camellia thread.
I dont think theres any need for members to apologise for posts or start to police the thread for content either (its never been the case before and frankly its unpleasant, lets stop that please), the roses arent out yet in most places, so the chatter, excitement for spring and last years pics is lovely whilst we wait, as is the chatter with like minded individuals. It'd be a very bare thread otherwise and a decidedly less lovely atmosphere.
Albertine.
Vigorous rambler, interesting pink colour, nicely scented ... But the flowers die an ugly death. Even worse in damp weather. I inherited one. But didn't keep it.
location: Surrey Hills, England, ex-woodland acidic sand. "Have nothing in your garden that you don't know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful."
Human hair kept the deer off my runner beans. But they are more determined in late pregnancy and lactating. I tried leaving a radio on. The batteries ran out. I eventually erected a plastic netting fence as an experiment. It worked, so it has remained.

Spot the rose... clear space in the middle for the patio roses x6 tucked in and leafing out, but till then im stuffing it with bulbs! Middle bed with beautiful foliage, especially syrie and Cadfael.
Edit - anyone else notice Monty has Crown Princess M as well on the first episode of 2023? He was praising it too, he seems to have a lot of the old discontinued ones like Munstead as well and they survive Longmeadow!
