Great to see the autumn rose renaissance, hope they hold up for those expecting it to hit the 30’s.
Increasingly the apricot tones are my favourite too, you have some fine ones @Eustace and I’m very jealous of everyone’s deep-toned Lady of Shalott! That’s the problem here, that colour is unstable in heat resulting in far paler blooms. OTOH an intense orange HT/flori starts off a great colour, but then turns muddy coral. The hunt continues for a happy glowing medium..
A cluster on Empereur Charles IV standard. The canes have grown very tall, so pot included it’s over 8ft high. They are still green and flexible so I’m debating air pegging to see if it would form a weeping standard like Alfie is trying with his Graham Thomas.
Darlow’s Enigma, the best of three so far in my hybrid musk trials for vigour, spotless health and willingness to bloom:
A balled, blackspotted disappointment earlier, but finally some decent blooms forming on Lady Hillingdon:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Thanks to I think bullfinch (sorry if have thanked wrong person as usual) for recommending the Shepherdess. It is a really lovely buff! Fragrant Plum has a touch of blackspot now but fortunately sawfly larvae are stripping the leaves haha.
Princesse Charlène de Monaco- virtually as fragrant as Deelish, which it's apparently related to.
And the ugly.... two roses which have not coped with the sudden sun at all.:(
I am seriously regretting using bark chips mulch this year. It is impossible to cleanup fallen leaves. I had thought about it in previous years, even told this to my friend too when she had asked about mulches, why I didn't remember in in July
it's a joy seeing all your lovely roses. After a long year, I am getting back on my feet. I have put in quite a few a new roses over the winter but they are not in full flow yet. My red climbers are now pretty established and are flowering well. They have loved all the rain and had great repeats all year.
