I’m no longer confident in recommending any rose for heat resistance after this year @Tack, but one key thing is aspect. The ones that do ok are hunkered down against my north fence and/or fully protected from afternoon sun. Morning only sun/east-facing spots are definitely the best, but most of those fried too in those searingly hot winds, especially the ones on metal supports. My poor Soul is a bunch of blackened sticks!
Funny that I got rid of Heidi Klum because, lovely as it was, it didn’t bloom enough, but am keeping Rose de Rescht because it does enough to pass muster.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
I'm quite pleased to see this shoot coming up, as it's likely an own root sucker, although the rose in the pot is grafted, but it suffered some dieback in transplanting.. it's some way from the graft union, unless it's sprouted from a buried stump under the soil, but I usually prune those off when I transplant..
My gripe with Rosa de Rescht is that the blooms are short-lived. This year the plant has put out quite a few flowers, even though it was badly hit with rust last season.

Is your RdR in the ground @Eustace? The one I saw at Dunham Massey recently was covered in blooms, so I’m wondering whether mine would do more planted out. I agree the blooms don’t last more than 2-3 days, barely a day in very hot weather.
@Meomye any time really apart from in the middle of a drought or heatwave. I prefer to transplant when it’s finished flowering and heading into dormancy for minimal disturbance, especially if it’s well established in the pot.

Maybe I should put RdeR in the ground for more blooms then. I agree they don't last long, one Heidi Klum bloom is probably worth 5 RdeR ones. You are correct that HK is not hugely floriferous Nollie but it is a tiny plant compared to RdeR so I only notice it when blooming.
Absolutely beautiful pictures. I am well jealous of some of those roses, especially all of you with Munster Wood! Will I let it drop ... that will be a "No".
The second flushes are well on their way - and for some the blooms are better than in their initial flush. Here is the view of my limited offerings today:
Gertrude Jekyll, well out of the recovery room:
Princess Anne is certainly showing her colours in the bright sunshine.
The Lark Ascending beginning to tail off now, but still giving it Large!:
An just in love with Lady of Shalott:
I have also managed to start the re-pathing of the house, starting with Mum's 'sitootery', just need to get the chairs and tables out. All gravel lifted, sifted and washed. Unfortunately when Mum had the gravel laid 25 years ago, she forgot to factor in a weed membrane - this has now been remedied. As always Agatha had to get in the picture and also a surprise visit from my brother's Scotty Dog.
I hope you all have a glorious week with sun and roses.
The sunshine and the warmth has brought out all the roses in their full glory. Photos taken today, most of them are orangey/apricot though, my favourites: Louise Clements Lambada Newsflash Marie Curie Peach Melba Crown Princess Margareta - smaller flowers in this flush. Summer of Love Summer Song - wants to be climber rather than a shrub. Sweet Honey
