@PeterAberdeen I buy the £9-10 obelisks from Wilko (or ebay ones in that price range. Not sure how many years they'll hold up, but Boule de Neige's obelisk is looking OK entering its third year.
WW does really pop from a distance Marlorena and is a great doer, flowering top to bottom all summer (when it’s not dying!).
@Lizzie27 I’ve tried several geums and not had much luck either, but bought some Prinses Juliana last year and they are doing really well in a north facing border. The cooler, shadier site seems to suit them better, at least here. Quite tall flowering stems so not as neat as Marlorena’s:
@PeterAberdeen depends on how wet you get there in Aberdeen. I would worry about wooden obelisks rotting in the ground, or is there some way you could protect the legs pushed into the soil? I use metal obelisks that I paint dark grey with a hammerite type paint, but you could paint those any colour you like. I don’t Have Westerland, but isn’t it a rather stiff-caned shrub/climber that might resist winding?
Spurious pupdate - Smudge in ‘knickers to the wind’ mode:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
I am so with you @PeterAberdeen, envious of all the blooms and buds. It is still cold and dry. I will be doing the water can work-out again tomorrow. Squat, lift, lounge and repeat.
Henry Hudson with a bud. Sort of.
No name white rose with very varied foliage.
My own version of Boule de neige.
My un-ID-ed rose is very much scented. I already managed to get 2 cuttings, too.

Good point @Nollie - I never gave a thought to the stiffness of the canes. Can anyone advise on that? Also, if that was Agatha, I would just assume she was rolling in something or scratching her back.
So, I have just gone and done a quick round of the roses and this is where I am!
Princess Anne Standard (planted Nov 22)
At least our late flowering Cherry is getting into full swing and giving us some colour. I love this tree so much, as I've known it for 56 years and count the years by it.
Hoping to avail myself all your expertise! I planted out 2 new roses beds this winter - one with HT (Kings Macc, Pascali), the other with shrub roses (The
Poets Wife, Roald Dahl, Lady of Shallott).
We are unexpectedly moving and I'd like to take the roses with me (since the new owners would rip them out), though they would have to go into pots for at least 18 months. I know it's not ideal timing, especially since the buds have just started to appwar
@PeterAberdeen I've just noticed your photos, fabulous tree ! and to know it for so long, such a treasure.. Roses all coming along in splendid fashion..
Re Westerland.. I had it on an obelisk, metal, box shaped, I won't use wood.. about 6 foot tall... it's trainable.. I decided not to keep it as it was a gift, and I'm not fond of gift roses, so it quietly went its way.. the big thorns helped me in my decision. I might have shown these photos before in previous discussions.. train a cane or two straight up, and others angled around it but there's no need to be too fussy..

Many thanks

Your no i.d. rose... have you compared it with 'Heritage'..?.. the scent is as you described..
Yes they will be perfectly alright for your purposes for 18 months or so..
You will likely lose the flower buds, so you might as well cut them back when transferring to pot.. it will relieve the stress on the roses..
