Yes I imagine they've kept it in cold storage .. there's no sign of any earlier flush of blooms..   if it grows with fewer thorns then I think I shall like it very much.. it's next to a narrow path, that's why I especially wanted low thorn.. at the moment I'm not seeing that..

@Elbfee those morbid/brown/lilac roses are strange, I think. I was given Mocha Rose and realised that I hated it- it was just brown, so looked like a rose that had expired in a vase some weeks before. A UK grower,  C and K Jones, posted this interesting clip last week, showing Koko Loko and Mocha Rose / Mokarosa, with Burgundy Ice as a partition. Koko had these pretty pink reverses and looked far prettier to my eyes (though I was in the minority judging by the comments). What do you think?

I concluded though that since I only liked the rose in lilac mode it was probably better to stick to lilac roses.

That hosta flower of yours is quite incredible.😁

Thank you for that link @WAMS. I am in your team and prefer KokoLoko. I also like Café and Chocolate Ruffles. But I do like odd colours in general like Gletscher and Hot Chocolate, even Kathryn would fit in here I think.

I've no idea about your 'GJ' rose, why that's happened.. sorry..

Re your no i.d climber.. I'd like to see more photos of blooms, but the foliage and bud formation look like the 'New Dawn' type.. however it could be the parent plant which is identical - 'Dr. Van Fleet'.. this is once flowering only.. back in the day both roses were offered and likely confused in commerce...  I had 'New Dawn' 3 times and never repeated for me.. I've had this conversation with people in different countries and they've said the same thing..

Perhaps you could show more photos later on.. ?..

Anxiously awaiting Poly's arrival. Carried all pots, furniture and ceramic lions to safety. The storm will do the deadheading for me. Hopefully not more.
