I can't seem to click "like" on anything-- a glitch?-- but some stunning pictures the last day or two. @Rojas your roses are picture-perfect. @SalixGold sounds like a good excuse to get Gertrude. I adore that rose. But if DA dump it, surely other vendors will pick it up.

I think Gertrude will be under licence in the UK so no other companies would be able to sell it if DA discontinue it - as it is with the other roses that DA have dumped. As I understand it no company is allowed to sell Munstead Wood or Tradescant in the UK. Overseas seems a little different (or the further away the company, the less toss they give).
@rojas again stunning roses !that fisherman’s friend I have never seen before . Striking here still between flushes but they are slowly gearing up. walferdange.
I really became found of this hybrid musk. Resistance against heat , a lot of rain and really nice clusters of blooms that flower long.
Framboise folle eaten… will be shovel pruned . I believe it can only tolerate shade. It is getting fried even in the morning sun.
Year 1 Malvern Hills at the arch
And year 3 Guirlande Rose. If somebody wants a light pink rambling type of rose and Vigorous .. a strong contender.
Will need to do some serious cleaning / pruning and training this winter .Maria Lisa is somewhere in between but completely taken over …
@Rojas - Those pictures are to die for. Roses to aspire too, indeed!
Well, I went out to do some deadheading yesterday - as you do. I admit that Desdemona was still buzzing around in my head. I noted that I wanted to put her South-East facing in our old rockery (now a raised bed made of granite). But below it was a really ugly and frankly dangerous crazy paved path.
I then noted I had some edging slabs going spare as well as wanting to lift the old granite clippings that surround the house (and to replace like for new like).
Next thing I know this has happened (membrane and clippings to go in tomorrow):
The second picture shows the rockery border in full and right in the middle is the space for Desdemona.
This is the border infested with Winter Aconite - so I'll get rid of them early doors in Spring and then get Desdemona as a barefoot in March/April. Ignore the rubble to the right - that is the remains of the crazy paving and the tub on the rockery is full of Sempervivums, that are going to get planted into the rockery wall cracks.
And yes, I have gravelled the Bearded Iris bed.
So that's two roses on the list for me, so far:
Scepter'd Isle Desdemona
Next will need to be a Red - and I think I know who to ask (looking at @Rojas )
@PeterAberdeen Thank you and all credit goes to iPhone 7's camera! I would suggest DA Reds in the following order... Munstead Wood, The Prince, William Shakespeare 2000.

What is your opinion on Othello? I see it seems to have better disease resistance c/f WS2000 and The Prince. Munster I would have in a flash if it was available.
@PeterAberdeen Othello gets the same black spot, mildew and rust. I didn't recommend it because it's really thorny, grows tall, the blooms doesn't stay fresh for long...It looks good only for a day or two but the fragrance is strong and excellent.
I am sure this has been asked before but I can't seem to find a clear answer. Apologies I want to train my new Strawberry Hill up an obelisk in a large pot. I've only had this plant for a few weeks. I am tempted to start tying some canes now to hopefully keep it nice and bushy at the bottom. Is this the right tactic or should I wait for next year's growth?
So, my promised DA Gardens report! I really enjoyed it. Beautifully laid out and full of roses. There were still a fair few out, and in the species garden the roses had a lovely array of hips from cherry red to black that I enjoyed. I had a lovely wander. The cafe was great, not cheap but the food was high quality, big portions and delicious. Staff are all lovely and the shop.... is a rose lovers dream. The advice was spot on, they keep the best for the shop, mostly in flower and immaculate. Its cleverly split into by names roses then another section with e.g best for flowering, climbing etc and repeats of them there.
I didnt spot munstead or lady em even in the gardens, maybe just as it was out of flower but there were examples of other older ones dotted about, big examples. Lots of newly planted bits, e.g Desdemona - I think they refresh certain bits regularly. Desdemona was everywhere, looking beautiful, they had a lot of stock too but I suspect that flies out. Lady of Shallott and lark ascending are quite prominent in the gardens too. They only had little displays of danahue and penelope, multiples of the others, bring me sunshine wasnt really in flower much anywhere so I think suspicion it is slow to repeat is right.
Penelope lively does look lovely & smells beautiful, its a darker pink than PAOK and smells different. Danahue I wasnt enamoured with, its paler than BMS but not different enough to tempt me. Gardens had a lot of nematode type sachet things to treat mite. Barely any blackspot BUT some roses were virtually bald of leaves so clearly had issues and been tidied!
I noticed several old ones like the mill on the floss were not in the shop, and are now bare root only, first step before retiring them. The growing houses visible I could see lovely examples being grown on for shows, and the breeding plants. Only one red visible so I think we are in for pinks and yellows a while yet! Took a few pics, will post in another comment save clogging feeds.
