Marlorena, I have been thinking increasingly that it it is Claude Monet as Pam has now pretty much confirmed comparing foliage, buds and bloom. TCL sent it out wrongly labelled as Ducat Mella. To start with I wondered whether it might be Paul Cezanne as TCL sell both Delbards. Thank you both
Looking into it a little more I see theDelbard confusion, TCL list the breeder as Delbard but I agree it is the earlier JACdesa, TCL is really a bit of a lottery

One thing I do not have is a book on roses.  But with you guys I may well not need one specifically!

So what are everyones recommendations for books on roses?  It could be best for Rose Care, History of the Rose, Varieties or anything that you feel helps you grow or understand your roses better.  Then again I am also open to ones with pretty pictures!

Be interesting to see what your preferred reference guides are.

@Marlorena it was described as ‘lightly scented’ on the tub but I think it has a really lovely (subtle) sweet smell, my partner can’t smell it but he can’t smell the ones that are renowned for fragrance either. I’m tempted to get another and put it in a more accessible place so I can have a sniff when I walk past.

Thank you @Eustace, I will get organised, and do things properly from now on. I was a bit lax with the liquid feed, manure & completely with the pruning. Do you think it helps to give DA shrub roses a mini prune in autumn before the main one in approximately February?

Thankyou @edhelka, some of them look healthy and some of them do not. The healthy ones are Boscobel (2 blooms, no more buds yet), Tottering-By- Gently (3 blooms, no more buds) Gertrude Jekyll as a short climber, (2 blooms, 3 more buds).I have one bud on Morning Mist. Those are the roses which look the best of the bunch (rather pitiful). The worse looking roses are as follows:  I have no buds on Sceptred Isle, but the leaves are not too bad. The bud on my Rosa de Rescht became soft and died off as did some canes. Lady of Shallot might be in the worst state. I could try to take some photos. It is difficult to know how much light they are getting, but the sun reaches most of them after 12:30pm I would say. By 5:30pm, the sun is behind alot more foliage and indeed some foliage after about 2:00pm, but there is always light, just not uninterrupted light/clear sky.  Perhaps I underestimated the amount of light that is needed. I also have never properly pruned them.
