Lovely colours everyone.. I had to chop most down today for transport
@salo.daria I personally think a few pots of roses should make it equally beautiful as training a climber.. That way you would have some or the other in bloom always and with different colour/ fragrance to enjoy..

@cooldoc - sad to chop them down mid-season, but on the bright side, your 'old friends' are coming with you.
Also agree with you re the balcony for @salo.daria - that way you can have a few new ones each year, you get to see them growing and blooming before planting into the ground. I wish I had done that with some of mine so I could have worked out where to put them better and to see if they were what I had ordered and so the right colour &c.
Nothing would help if you hangout here . Couple of days ago my DH was saying we should put proper stairs to the roof (we live in a flat roof art-deco style house) and immediately I started thinking about a rooftop rose garden lol.
Lilac Bouquet looks lovely @Marlorena, as do your lilac/mauve perennials. I think I need a Lythrum or 2 as well.
Good luck with your new place @cooldoc, it only feels five minutes since you last moved to me so I guess even quicker to you. Be interesting to see which of your roses bounces back soonest.
I agree with @PeterAberdeen that putting roses in pots first is a great
idea. The colours, habit, size and health of roses I have high hopes for are often not what I imagined.
Talkng of pots, these are some of the best ones just coming out of a mid season lull and have coped with a week of rain and windClaude Monet and Munstead WoodPenelope Lively, seems an excellent rose so farYou only need a single bloom of Special Anniversary to make an impact, huge and brightDesdemona, AbFab and unknown white.
I have been compiling my doom list
Definitely going are Chandos Beauty, Boscobel, Herzogin Christiana, Wild Rover, Dunav Reka
Probably going; The Feminine Touch, The Prince, Utopia, Hippie Fashion, Eglantyne, Amulet Mella, Gruss an Aachen, and Elke von Rantzau.
I love TP, Eglantyne and GaA but they need a lot of care. Most of the others just underwhelm, are too stingy with blooms/have long pauses or are too fungus prone.
After asking for recommendations for roses on this thread I bought Absolutely Fabulous and so far I'm so pleased with it. I love how the blooms change colour over time and it smells gorgeous ... Also after hearing lots of people rave about Desdemona I bought two to have either side of my patio, they arrived 10 days ago with loads of buds which have just come out. So thanks to everyone for their excellent recommendations 😀

Who else thinks Dasha's balcony is going to be crammed with pots of roses by this time next year? 😉
Good luck with the move, @cooldoc
