It’s the Southern end of Bassenthwaite Lake and Skiddaw mountain on the right ... last time we came around this time of year there were lots of rhododendrons and azaleas in flower in the gardens we visited (Mirehouse). ... There were some huge camellias
Your pic would be more welcome on a Camellia thread.

@agnes_dewhirst - all those roses you mentioned are really nice. Jubilee Celebration has indeed been discontinued sadly. I want this one and can’t find it anywhere. I have PAoK in a pot and I love it.
DA roses are very expensive and there are lots of other ones that are just as good. Cottage Memories is a good place to get roses and they have just started taking potted rose orders. They are about £11 each.
What colour are you looking for? Any other important features like fragrance, bloom style etc?
Ooh thanks @Alfie_ your PAoK is gorgeous! It looks very happy in a pot, so that is a definite contender. It's so hard to try and get an accurate read of the colour, it looks beautiful in you pictures. Such a shame about Jubilee Celebration, I often seem to get drawn to the discontinued varieties!
I think I'm looking for a pink, but maybe a mid pink as my others (except Eustacia Vye) are pale, but tones in with Roald Dahl and will look different to EV and the GG.
I would love it to be fragrant as it will be near to a bench, I don't have a strong preference (yet!) for the type of scent. I have young children, so not very thorny like Gertrude Jeykll. Bloom style I'm open to, I love the chalice shape but have three of those and I also like the open rosette style too.
When I was very first planning my garden I was obsessed with Koko Loko but couldn't get hold of it at the time. I then managed to get one and planted in one of my borders, but it ended up getting swamped by perennials and by the time I decided to dig it up it had given up the ghost!
I have heard of Cottage Memories but I haven't bought from them before. I will have a look and see what grabs me.
@Alfie_ You might consider 'Alberic Barbier' it's suitably vigorous and repeats flowering in smaller clusters through the season..
@Mr. Vine Eye I should have known, I've walked all around that lake.. I hope you took refreshments at the rather plush, at least it used to be, Pheasant Inn.. we loved it there.. I remember all the Spring shrubs and Acer's in particular, it was all so lush..
@agnasia Oh welcome to the Roses thread.. you have a good collection already.. no need to worry about aspect for 'Boscobel'.. I've grown it here in less than full sun.. You might also consider 'Chandos Beauty'... or 'The Anniversary Rose' which is deliciously scented..
@WAMS I see you've got the new Beales catalogue, I've been waiting for that, so I must order mine.. I think it's the best catalogue out there and leaves Austin's standing.. going by previous editions I should say..
Jubilee Celebration has not been discontinued yet. Only the standard version has been retired. If you contact them in the summer they will let you order it for autumn delivery.
Good luck @agnasia... I have just planted Mocha Rosa, which is sort of similar to Koko Loko... might be one to look for!
Yes @Marlorena- better produced and more informative- and there is so much less guff in the Peter Beales catalogue. I think it was you who recommended ordering it- thank you.

Apologies bédé - occasionally conversations can go slightly off topic from the thread title. Newbie mentioned seeing the rhododendrons etc. So I commented on seeing the camellias in flower.
Although in my defense, at first glance, I thought the first camellia I saw, by the entrance gate, WAS a rose! Until I remembered the time of year. 🙂
@agnasia - sorry tagged the wrong name before. I second Marlorena for the Chandos B. I have two. The scent is incredible as are the blooms. If you’re in Herts Harkness have one of their sites in Hitchin that may be worth a visit.
Thank you @Marlorena that's good to know that Boscobel might still be an option, I've read such good things about the scent! I will have a look at those two roses you suggested.
@WAMS - ahh ok so I could still get it, but I would have to wait. Hmm not sure if I'm patient enough!! I will have to look up the Mocha Rose. Sarah Raven has Koko Loko but it's more expensive than getting a DA.
So hard to decide when there are so many options! I have also always had half an eye on Joie de Vivre if anyone has any experience of that rose?
