It’s very strange isn’t it?! The buds are there!! It was in an east facing aspect while in ‘storage’ but dug in properly and well watered etc.
I’ll leave it be til the end of summer and hope for the best. I don’t feel very lucky with my roses this year. I think the bad winter really hit them hard.
Wonderful roses @Nollie, it’s great for me to see Marie Pavie next to Ebb Tide when considering which type of rose for my pot - small and bountiful or big and bold!
It’s been raining off and on today, but I did see a gorgeous rose on my walk. This is one plant and has a lovely form, very bushy. The buds are showing dark pink/red, so will have to make sure I go past when everything is in bloom.
I also love this clematis, I wonder what it is? So eye catching.
Did not think the rain was so heavy @Marlorena was at work plus it was pretty much raining always this week.. realised how bad it was on watching the News..
smart move @CatDouch I suggest the same to my OH.. she does not fall for it
Nothing much here as well.. few opened but disfigured flowers so did not feel like clicking any.. New this week to provide colour and fragrance is this Daffodil.. Pheasants eye
I have had rose and lavender in a part shade (soggy in winter) border. Rose is alright but lavender had a lot of dieback and wasn't happy in that location. I feel if it is sunny or well drained spot then both together work but in non ideal location it is hard for lavender to thrive.
A couple of wildlife pics.. I'm sorry if anyone doesn't like spiders, but this one swims in my pond and goes in and out at leisure.. I think he's caught something, maybe another spider.. Looks rather fearsome, I wouldn't want to touch it.. ..this was also in my pond, I thought it was struggling so I scooped it out on this stick.. no idea what it is..
Nice closeup photos @Marlorena. @Nollie@Busy-Lizzie@agnasia lovely rose pictures. @Katsa can I come and WFH from your garden office? 😜 Speaking of wildlife, I think I have the national collection of slugs and snails in my garden! Literally thousands of them happily munching on anything that is green. I even spotted a few snails up in the fruit trees. 😫🤢 May have to resort to the blue pellets once this rain stops.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
Reading about torrential rains makes me
envious. I had exactly 3l since April 28 and not much expected any
time soon. At least the temperatures take a break from global
warming, too, and are about 2 degrees lower than average.
Contemplating to bury another underground cistern. The water comes in
spades in winter. At least I live on the right side of the channel to
purchase discontinued DA roses.
@Marlorena, thank you for clarifying
that my rose is not Heritage. I should have named it Vivienne or such
instead of scent monster but will not change that now.
@PeterAberdeen, I am all for colour on
your obelisk, wooden or metal. It makes such a difference during the
dull winter season. Plus, it is easy to revise if you tire of your
limepink piece of art. Changing my garden shed from dark green to
Chalet Sorbet shouldn't have take so much courage, but it did.
@Marlorena, you made my laugh. Aren't
we all past our shelf live when it comes to boring, anoying
maintenance work? Not to be confused with building rose boats like
Nollie or pergola like OWD.
@JessicaS, I do hope you are much
better now. Slimy eaters here as well. So far they stay in the veggie
area and destroy my chilli plants. That's the upside of no rain. Not
so many of them out and about. How is your Wisteria doing?
@HarryWhite I did grow lavender as
border to my roses although they do not like the same kind of soil.
The lavender died. The scent is not too much for roses. I have moved
on to clove and deadnettle as well as phlox subulata.
@Nollie thanks to you I will need to
decrease lawn. All this lovely roses. I hear your complaints, but I
only see droolworthy colours and perfection.
@Katsa, greetings as we have not met
before. Is this your house or a garden office? Looks fantastic.
