Thank you @Marlorena. Would Blush Noisette be tall enough for my arch that had Malvern Hills on it? I've now seen that Chevy Chase doesn't have much scent and has lots of prickles. Think I need to visit Peter Beales.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I love "Open Arms". I planted it by the porch at OH's old cottage. Maybe I should find a place here. There are so many lovely roses for sale here that I would love to take back to my French garden. Blast Brexit!

..some progress on new bare roots from this winter..
'Wild Blue Yonder'.. from the same people as 'Julia Child'.. 'Reine des Violettes'. 'Mrs. John Laing'.. 'Directeur Constantin Bernard'.. having survived the 2-1/2 week transit from Loubert's.. ..my obelisk garden.. Clematis 'Avalanche' ready to burst..
@Busy-Lizzie Yes you could but I don't think it's at its best with too much control.. I think your taste is similar to mine in that you like to allow a more relaxed form to develop.. it's more suited to that I think.. you also need to be tolerant of its fading blooms.. otherwise..
You are all in trouble with the hubby! Only went into Morrisons for bread, came out with these four! 🤦♀️ Now I have to find room for them, I do know where at least three are going. Rooguchi I am planning to grow through my climbing white rose, The President I have already and am planning to bulk up the area with a second one, and the white Mrs G Jackman will maybe become a backdrop for my Twice in a Blue Moon, the other 🤷♀️
I'm not sure what I'm doing with Warszawska Nike. I might put it with Bathsheba.
Here's the shed bed after mulching. Big gaps at the back without the foxgloves there! Maybe the new clematis could grow up Royal Jubilee actually (on the shed). That might work.
Spent the day babysitting neighbour's 3
years old kids. To have that level of energy again... @Mr. Vine Eye , I
feel for you and the missing afternoon naps. Now enjoying all the photos to recover, thanks a lot.
@WAMS potting tulips is certainly the
best idea. Have you seen, on Youtube or Instagram, what Claus Dalby
does to his doorstep? Every year I tell myself, I need more bulbs.
Can you recommend Amazing Day? It looks gorgeous. Although, @Watsonia ,
Lucky is an eye-catcher, too.
@Marlorena . I feel less of a bad
rose mum now. Another similar coloured, sickly but so desirable
fragrant rose is Souvenir du Dr. Jamain in my garden. I am on number
3 now and will not give up. Good choices your Wild Blue Yonder and
Reine des Violettes. There are supposed to be a lighter and a darker
version. This is the darker one but early in the season.
Re o/t: Bing, Google, FireFox etc. are
search engines. You ask something, you get an answer. My
understanding of ChatGpt is, it is AI at work. You want a speech
written, your bachelor thesis or a letter and the software will do it
for you. I'd rather prefer you continue writing to us in person ;-)
@Tack, lovely border with your Blush
Noisette. BN over Stanwell Perpetual?
@ElbFee ..thanks for the Chat info.. whilst I'm not a luddite, I don't think it's something I need right now, I prefer to find my own words, don't you..?
Your Reine des Violettes is very nice, a bit pink.. we usually see it as mauve/purple.. I've tried it twice before here, my late dog killed one and the other died on me for some unknown reason.. it should be thornless..
You have some nice roses we don't see over here.. good luck with your Dr. Jamain, it's not one I've ever tried I think.. I also have 'Lucky', and it's one I'm increasingly fond of..
Well, light evenings start now with the clocks going forward tonight... no idea about the rest of Europe on this..

@Alfie, more orange to make you think.
Just for drooling.
