Love 'mauve with a touch of morbid' description which looks very apt. Welcome back @ElbFee.
Your roses are looking great @Nollie and your photography skills are still up to scratch too.
And I wait...but at least I have Canary Bird and so many buds to look forward to. This thread will be so rewarding soon, can't wait.
In the meantime I am blaming the fungal attacks I'm getting on the oversupply of soft leaves due to the too high nitrogen in DA's new fertiliser. Desdemona and Munstead Wood have mildew, The Prince has rust and Wild Rover has BS with other pot roses affected to lesser degrees. I know the Spring has been damp and cold but those particular roses were really healthy for most of last season, not ones I expected to succumb. Still, at least I didn't use that fert on the inground ones and they are both more important and totally fine.
Just trying out Olivia RA in a giant pot as I'd rather not buy 3 the same like I did for the other pot pair (3 Frilly Cuffs). I think one plant will be enough as this ORA is still a one year past bare root purchase and presumably will fill out loads more.
Glorious, @ElbFee. I am pretty tall for a girl but will probably follow your advice not to get that rose, because I can't find it anywhere. 😁
You should get it, really. Just not as a standard. Every gardener with a nose should have either Chandos Beauty or Prince Jardinier. Preferrably both. Just mho of course 😁. Have you tried TCL? Are German dealers still shipping to UK?
'Mary Delany' has such gorgeous foliage doesn't it, I remember it well, I thought it was a stand out feature on that rose.. 'Blue Moon' coming along well, yes must keep those Chives away, they can be a bit rampant..

Olivia Austin does really well in a large pot. I've had her in this large terracotta one the last two years. She is very prone to Aphid attack in early summer. So I've experimented with growing some garlic in the pot
My new Strawberry Hill is putting on new growth next to its 6ft high obelisk. I want to train the canes around the base of the obelisk like @Tack (or was it @Mr Vine Eye?) does. I'm wondering whether I should wire the obelisk in between the horizontals to make it easier to tie in the new growth? Any advice very welcome.
