A few, not particularly good phone photos, but the garden was looking nice this morning. Very misty. Royal Jubilee is properly getting into flush now, Scarborough Fair, The Ancient Mariner and Mary Delaney are also flowering in the same bed so very packed with pink at the moment!
@Mr. Vine Eye lovely garden filled with roses. Superb 👌
Perception - a Harness HT. The colouring of this flower looks very washed out compared to those on the internet.
Summer of Love - a Kordes bicolour rose which I'm trying out this year. Masquerade - blackspot prone, still flowers well. Parfum Royal - nice scented HT
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
Im a bit behind here, heatwave wilting me! Heres a few from me, Albertine and wedding day finally waking up at the back. The hulthemias, brother cadfael and sweet syrie are in full bloom.
@WAMS we know the 2nd. New Austins pink from teaser, so you might be right there. I could be tempted by that one too as not like my others and if it takes the heat be great outfront. BMSS i must admit has excellent heat resistance. Then again CPM and munstead are fine for me in heat... Colonel mustard;
Ruffles queen;
Sweet Syrie, which smells amazing too. Climbers at the back just waking up. This was. Yesturday, lots more out now even that short time! Syrie / cadfael / angel eyes / eyes for you / lavender ice / unnamed hybrid tea.
@Jason-3 not sure if you had a reply yet but mosaic dosent spread easily so if its on multiple I suspect something in soil. Not Chlorosis I think, but have you fed recently or sprayed anything? Im thinking deficiency / poisoning (as in too much of something).
A lovely pink corner @Mr. Vine Eye, LoS gorgeous as usual and you trained so well your Ghislaine and Malvern.
In this thread you all post many roses that I don’t know and it’s very interesting to see them. For instance, one is @Marlorena Mrs. John Laing, amazing colour there, and many roses from @Eustace and @ElbFee.
Beautiful garden @JessicaS, I confess I am very envious of the magnificent gardens you all have!
My garden at the moment is full of pests and weeds e many roses are in need of deadheading. I took some pics, please be kind with me.
My favourite rose, Desprez a Fleur Jaunes. I love the flower clusters it puts out.
Blue for You in its very first year seems a bloom machine to me already
Lady Emma
This is Purple Lodge. The flower got ruined by yesterday heavy rain, but this morning there are new buds on it. I love this rose.
Love song, with a guest
Finally, Marie Pavie. It didn’t stop flowering in the rain, an amazing little shrub this one
@Marlorena I already know for sure that I am going to get rid of Madame Alfred Carriere (too big!), Phyllis Bide, Pink Cloud an Lawinia (I don’t like them at all). Curious to hear which roses are going from others and why.
@Gertrudejeykllrose did you ever find the name of your climber? I got very left behind on this thread, so many posts, only just read back. Does your rose have small flowers and tiny exquisite buds? I think it looks like Cecile Brunner. I had it in my last garden. It got very big but then I didn't prune it enough.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Did anyone get an email from David Austin about watering roses?
"With the hot weather upon us, it is really important to remember to water your roses.
We recommend watering the base of your rose(s) in either the morning or late afternoon, with a full watering can every day in these extreme temperatures."
I was a bit surprised. Yes for roses in pots but I thought over the top for roses in the ground. My daughter in France has over 120 roses and their area near Poitiers was on quite strict water restrictions last year so she couldn't water much. A lot of her roses are from David Austin and they were all fine. Her roses are magnificent this year.
