'Elizabeth'... I'm not in love with this rose at the moment.. there is no discernible scent, there was more in the first year, the blooms shatter after about 3 days.. although it is producing a whole mass of them, and seems continuous.. ..but so far.. we are not amused..
Trying to catch up after 6 days of leave ! It is really warm and no relief soon predicted and the water butt will run low soon. We have an underground reservoir but it did not rain for 1,5 month…
Came back to this view . Maria Lisa way paler due to the heat and not a flowering like she should . Guirlande white , GdF white… some roses completely fried by the sun ( Silas Marner , folle framboise and some completely untouched like Julia Child)
Indeed, thank you @Marlorena for creating this thread. I would have been lost in www without you all. And don't we all need a place to share our rose related joys, sorrows and questions?
My roses are officially in the race now, more than half is blooming.
James is new this year and already made it on my favorites list. Holds the colour very well in this heat. As it is in a pot, drought is not an issue for it. I spent the day feeding and watering the roses in the ground. Only did 1/3 of my roses so far.
Schloss Ippenburg / Prince Jardinier is on par scent-wise with Chandos beauty. Very strong and lovely fragrance, fruity. In the back Pride and Prejudice.
Yesterday I showed the bloom in the evening light, a very dark purple. This is the same bloom next day at noon.
Kind of unfair, but I do not appreciate this rose enough. It is absolutely healthy, medium fragrant and blooms constantly. Unfair to take this for granted. I tend to be happier about roses that required TLC before rewarding me with a bloom or two. Sick.
Another Newbie, therefore not yet fanned as suggested. Nothing to do with a 1ft high rose. I like the bloom.
L'Aimant is lovely with its frilly petals, but so tiny.
This one has changed the colour from a light rose to almost white due to the heat. No BS, nothing, very healthy.
Orlaya takes over my flower beds. Last year I struggled to get the seedlings going. This year it is all over the place. Rhapsody in blue in the back.
@Tack I have Claude Monet bought as a bare root from TCL this. Just waiting on the blooms to open. Will post picture once they’re open. @Marlorena can I add my thanks to your inspiration in creating and maintaining these rose threads each year. They are such a great resource for all things rose and a lovely way to share and learn. Fabulous pictures all
How many buy a rose and then find out when it blooms its not the rose they purchased. I bought a pascali white hybrid tea but when it bloomed it was a white floribunda, the flowers were really ugly with brown edges.
@Vh72 I have strong doubts about an HT I bought this year. The shape, colour and petal count all seem to differ from the rose I was after. A Meilland group run by the Meillands and full of French rose enthusiasts say it can't be that rose. However, the grower says it is the correct rose and it's just the weather. Hey ho. I love whatever it is I have.
"Gorgeous" lives up to its name, @geralddavies, doesn't it?
Thank you for the hint about Astronomia/ Sweet Pretty, @Nollie! Your name is better.
Lavender Ice, an eBay bargain (amazed by the bid that Munstead Wood attracted, @SalixGold... though I can understand those who think it is worth £94). This was a couple of pounds, though!
