Regarding standard shapes and growth, these are both 140cm high. The roses grafted are totally different, therefore the growth and the overall shape differs. I planned to grow Musquée Sans Soucis as weeping standard. Seeing how the wind tussles the crown already, I might reconsider. The other standard is Chandos Beauty. The reason why I suggested not to grow it as a standard is obvious. It grows stiff and upright. The blooms will be at +2m. Which is a pitty given the delicious scent.
@purplerallim, I agree with Marlorena, from memory, Claire Austin does not have a button eye (mine aren't out fully yet so I can't check) so yours is probably not that one. Hope you are able to identify it.
@edhelka yes, there are 2 Reine des Violettes. Both have Millet-Malet 1860 Pius as one parent and a seedling as the other parent. Obviously not the same seedling though. The pics are not pretty, but the colour is accurate. I bought mine as the dark version. Would you say we have the same version?
@Elbfee It will be interesting to see your standards in bloom, too. My Chandos Beauty bush has just thrown out an identical narky cane to that and it is twice as high as the rest of the bush... the little scamp. Still, I long for it as a standard and am living vicariously through you, pitter and now Alfie.
Also... did you shovel prune your Petit Prince today, or...?
Not much change @WAMS but here you go. I planted Rose de Cisterciens bare root 2 weeks ago. And absolutely nothing shows. I scratch away a bit of soil every day. Now it lives sheltered in a crater. Or not. As nothing shows Love the albino Blue For You bud. My no1 rose.
@Marlorena@Lizzie27 Well that's another one down then! It's not Claire Austin or Arthur Bell. 😆 It is somewhere between 15 to 25 years old, that's how long the previous house owner was gardening, she is a rose lover and took all the potted ones with her, but has no idea what this one is. I must admit the bud above has a tinge of pink, but it's the only one, and they start out much more yellow, like the centre, but as they open they pale to cream. Trouble is there are so many varieties of roses , I will probably never know!

A brilliant white bud in a cluster on Blue for You from Peter Beales.
My hopefully Shropshire Lad. Is madly droopy and looks... right?
