Some more roses have started, I love this time of year and all of your beautiful photos, we’ve finally caught up with Nollie
First two city of york blooms, it smells divine, is SMOTHERED in buds, and has pushed out 3 strong new canes. My weekend job is getting the third wire in to tie some of these up!
For your eyes only, still in a pot, will have to look after it as it will be in a pot for this year too
VdB will start soon, foliage on this is not looking healthy but I’m just leaving it to it
This rose is growing in front of the house/church. From outside it's a normal house but Google maps states it as a church. Hence I don't have guts to knock and ask what rose it is. It is really tall overhanging towards the pavement, bright orange blooms, petal packed and I can't detect scent this morning.
Could this be Summer Song? I have no clue when this was planted and not sure when Summer Song was released.
Does anyone know what these plants are? My friend has moved to his new house and found these growing in his garden. Many Thanks in advance.
Think those are arums, Rojas. Weeds. And yes that looks like Summer Song.
I just really like wine, Mr Vine Eye.😁
Sorry, @PeterAberdeen, Munstead Wood and about 14 other Austins were abruptly discontinued in October, but they are still turning up in garden centres. Hopefully you might happen on one. Otherwise, I will be rooting cuttings like a madwoman and sharing when possible. Speaking of, I shoved Pope John Paul II in a tub with Sarah (which sounds more salacious than it was) and look what happened. Always feels like magic!
Well I’m not sure Nollie is going to have any more roses to show you at this rate!!
I mentioned upthread I had a veritable swarm of pollen beetles, thousand upon thousand of them. Normally I get some minor shot-hole damage when they munch through the outer petals of opening buds to get to the pollen, mostly lighter coloured ones. This year they are on every single rose and not only munching from the top and sides but decapitating the buds from below ☹️
These are from my beloved Palais Biron, but it’s same story everywhere:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@Nollie I'll be equally devastated if I were you seeing the damage done by the pollen beetles 😭 Lovely roses @Marlorena. Here are a few from my garden: Marie Curie
Louis de Funes - a blackspot magnet
Friesia/Korresia
Royal Celebration - actually it is quite a purple, but the phone camera doesn't capture that colour accurately.
Blue Moon
Twice in a Blue Moon
Munstead Wood - smells divine
Desdemona - a plant photo Eustacia Vye My front paved garden with it's potted roses, mostly HT.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
Thought you might like to see how BfY is coming along. But it can't catch up with Celebration for blooms yet. You never know what you will get when buying from a Supermarket, this should have been Twilight Zone but clearly isn't. And just for fun my favourite iris. Benton Storrington
