@peteS Hi Pete. This is what I use.. bare in mind I have highly alkaline soil, ph 8.. I also use it for pots.
I also use this, it's very potent and works wonders, but not cheap.. water soluble and essential in my hard tap water, when I no longer have rain water to use..
Just watched a presenter at the Chelsea Flower Show on this afternoon's TV pot up the new Dannahue rose, together with 2 salvias, 1 alchemilla mollis and an erigeron (I think). Looked good but mix not ideal for long term use? I liked the colour of the rose as I'm getting into apricot/peachy/orange shades now but the blooms looked droopy as per DA's usual. Anybody else see it?
@WAMS, apparently that rose changes colour according to the strength of the sun. I'm liking it better now as have been watering and feeding better as per Marlorena's advice. It was originally a £5 cheapie on the reject stall!
See previous post at 16.50 for more invaluable information from our own rose guru, who would never dream of describing herself as an "expert" despite being one -- unlike certain youtubers!😁
A long time ago on here I asked for recommendations for a white rose. I can't remember quite who it was that suggested Susan Williams -Ellis, but I bought it. Unfortunately, I had a very busy summer last year and the garden got badly neglected. I hacked a lot back this spring, thinking I'd lost quite a few plants, including the rose. However, I was rewarded today with these lovely blooms, and lots more to come too. A belated thank you, it's everything I was looking for.

Well at least a new DA gets us all talking, just not always in a good way. Similar chatter and views on the US Houzz rose forum, not that they will get it anytime soon.
Elixir Bumper Crop is the brand of sulphate of potash I have used Marlorena in place of tomato food. I think so anyway, the packaging looks familiar but the label has disintegrated. It’s really good, a little goes a long way.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@Victoria Sponge thanks and sorry for the delayd response. I was asking about Summer Sweetheart for the health. Mine has such awful black spot. It was immaculate when the new foliage came but now its in bud almost every leaf is yellow or blackspotted. Is your this bad? I hate spraying roses but made an exception for this one (and this one only) and it has done nothing to even limit it. The only thing I can think of is that it is in a pot as I'm climbing it up a patio wall and there is not ground to put it in. It is a large pot though. Can't think of anything else as I have replaced top quarter of soil + slow feed + mulched in spring then two liquid feeds already since it has been in bud (no flowers yet):
Maybe the only conclusion is it is not happy in a pot?
On a more positive note Alfred C has multiple blooms. I hard pruned him in the winter as he was on the roof!
It now budding laterally just under the top windows rather than blocking the actual window
Means they are easy to smell from upstairs. Such a great fragrance and these blooms in the first flush are huge:
Alfred carriere looks beautiful @Alfie_ I can only hope that mine starts to grow again.
I’ve got two Peter brakes roses in pots which are really unhappy. The leaves are so yellow and rife with black spot. There are lots of buds so I’m waiting to see what happens!
..that rose is trained beautifully on the red brick wall, it looks just right..
o/t.. I hope you find this amusing, you are welcome to laugh even though I've had a frustrating day..
We set off to Cambridge, going via a place called Newmarket... I was map reader.. unfortunately I fell asleep and my husband took a wrong turn somewhere along the line... we ended up on the motorway to London way south of Cambridge... we only realised when I woke up, looked skywards and noticed Ryanair planes arriving at Stansted airport... We had no choice but to do an about turn and make our way back up the motorway the other side... we eventually reached our destination.. but 2 hours out of our lives we won't get back again..
We do not have SatNav and my husband never was great with directions.. we don't get out much - just as well perhaps..
Here's a sumptuous, scented***** beauty that will look better tomorrow..
