Afternoon all, it's been wet, cold and windy all day which was a nuisance as I had to go into town for a haircut. Queued for half an hour in M&S for a coffee and cake (one coffee machine had broken down) which meant I only had a half an hour to whizz round to get the clothes I wanted before racing through town to hairdressers.
Still raining when I walked to the bus stop and then found the bus was full of 45 7yrs old with about 6 teachers so I had to stand till halfway. The teacher told us the school couldn't afford to hire a coach any more so they walked in (about 2-3 miles) and bussed back. Kids were very excited to be on the bus but well behaved, though noisy.
When I got home and tried on my purchases, two out of the three didn't fit, although they were all the same size. Back tomorrow then.
Don't fly from Heathrow during Easter @Hostafan1, they will be striking.
I haven't started sowing any seeds yet, waiting till it gets warmer and there's plenty of time. We haven't even uncovered and tidied the veg beds yet.
Hope you get a holiday @Hostafan1 - some sunshine sounds like a great shout.
Great course yesterday - am now brimming with ideas, and have a list of seeds to start me off. Best tip was to use football goal netting (in black) to climb sweet peas up. The jute stuff is expensive and only lasted 2 seasons (the second of which was very holey) - so I am now surfing soccer supply sites ⚽️ 🥅
Rubbish nights sleep, worrying about littlest Chicklet’s impending solo jaunt round the world with a backpack 🫣.
Citizens Advice today ….. off to help some people if I can 🤞🏻
I slept well, must gave been knackered. Don't know whether OH snored.
Is chicklet planning to go with a group of friends @chicky, safety in numbers? OH is taking me out to lunch at our favourite pub restaurant today. He says that now he has a new hip and he's stopped the blood thinners and the strong painkillers he needs to celebrate.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Sounds like quite a stressful trip @Lizzie27. I wonder why the school kids don't get the bus to school rather than from it? That way they would be on time and not tired from the walk. An Easter break in the sun sounds just the ticket @Hostafan1. And its brilliant news that your OH is feeling sprightly enough to take you to lunch @Busy-Lizzie.
Yes, sad news about Paul O'Grady - only in his 60s too. Such a shame. My heart goes out to his husband.
Speaking of husbands, a gay married couple who are friends of mine are publishing a new picture book - The Frog's Kiss - about a frog who wanted to find a princess to kiss him but they were all too snooty. But he was kissed by a prince and lo - the frog also turned into a prince and they kissed. It is a really charming story and the illustrations are fab, but they my friends are braced for a bit of criticism as it is aimed at primary school age children. The kids will love it - it's the media they are worried about!
I'm feeling pleased - the lunaria Somerset Marble that I bought as plants and looked lovely self-seeded and the leaves are the same mottled colour as the parent was. I might pot some up so they can be sold at the In Bloom stall at the Garden Market in May.

Glad Rob is progressing @Dovefromabove.
I hate it when all the same sizes are different.
Cold and wet here all day. Bit of HW and ironing, watched a GW.
Soz both.
Waking up to the sad news of Paul O'Grady's demise last night. Such a humane person!
Grey and dismal today - typically spring, but much work to do in the garden.
I hope your day goes well enough for all.
Grey and very wet again here
