Thank you all. Have to say I'm a bit nervous. OH looks quite calm but hard to tell what's inside. He's packed his bag.

  • Evening everyone,  I am  afraid your warning came a bit late for me @AuntyRach. I  did a lot of heavy jobs yesterday,  so a lighter day at Capel Manor today.
I join with everyone in wishing your OH all the best for tomorrow @Busy-Lizzie . Glad to hear of continued progress for your son @Dovefromabove.
    Have a good evening everyone.

  • Hi all,

Enjoyed another great day on the slopes, although it started snowing late afternoon and wasn't too pleasant, I'm a fair weather skier these days. Charlie went out with a ski monitor for two hours this afternoon, they went to the highest point, did black runs and off piste, he absolutely loved it. It was expensive, but he went to places he's never been before, and we've been coming for 5 years or more, got a real tour of the mountain, saw where an avalanche had wiped out an entire forest, a lake we didn't even know was there, he very nearly entered Switzerland too.

Been out tonight and watched the Torchlight Descent and a drone show, replacement for fireworks because it's cleaner, amazing.

Hope all goes well tomorrow @Busy-Lizzie, it'll be absolutely worth it for him.

    Good evening all.

    Evening everyone.

Hope you aren’t aching too much @Allotment Boy - although it’s a sure sign that the gardening year has kicked off when the pulled muscles/sore back/painful knees return.

All the best to @Busy-Lizzie and OH. I hope everything is straightforward and the recovery is speedy.

I hope @Dovefromabove and @WonkyWomble have had good reports today.

Looking very professional there @didyw. Must have been a big crowd if you have a microphone. I always feel a bit nervous in a microphone situation.

We’re home and have had some food. It was a long visit with some in depth chats with son’s doctor and OT.  He was less deeply sedated and seemed a bit more responsive … because of less sedation he’s more aware of pain and showing he’s uncomfortable so they’re monitoring that and increasing pain relief accordingly. However he did settle when it was increased, and I think he recognised my voice. Of course he could’ve been objecting to his mum wittering on a load of old squit. 😉. The OT was telling us about special splints and techniques she’ll use to help him keep as much extension and flexibility in his fingers as possible … vital for a guitarist.
Anyway … now for something relaxing on tv while I doze before bed 😉

Best wishes to  @Busy-Lizzie and her OH for tomorrow and the future 🤗

You must be exhausted Dove. It’s good to hear that you are being updated and informed - as hard as it must be to process it all.
I hope you can relax a bit tonight.

For the best @Busy-Lizzie to your OH tomorrow and the follow-up.
Good news @Dovefromabove   now that the sedation wears off there are some changes.  Patience and courage.

    Night all.

I echo AuntyRach's remarks Dove, I hope you can get a good night's sleep tonight. The return journey itself must be quite exhausting, the A12/A14? is not a nice road at the best of times.

DIL has cooked us a lovely salmon and rice dish, with spicy rice for herself and OH and plain rice for me, plus salad. She had also bought us the little GU chocolate cheesecakes as a special treat which were yummy, although I might well suffer later.

Her son's just back his school skiing trip which he absolutely loved. He's the same age as Charlie. They flew somewhere in Italy, all 127 schoolkids! Their poor teachers! Quite a few broken fingers, wrists and arms, plus tendon injuries, fortunately our g/son came back in one piece - remarkable. Glad you're enjoying your trip away DD.

  • Just popping back to ask has anyone else watched the C4 programme the Piano.  They put a Piano in public spaces and invite amateur musicians to play.  What they don't know is they are being watched by Lang Lang and Mica  and one will be chosen to play at a special concert.  Some truly inspirational performances and stories. Worth catching up with if you  have not seen it. 2 more episodes then the concert to be shown.
