The start of another week which promises to be fine today and tomorrow with the weather deteriorating from Wednesday onwards. Spring is just around the corner!!
I trust you slept well @Dovefromabove and @WonkyWomble after your visit and a good meal. Every day is a new achievement for your lad. That's positive.
Yes, certainly @coccinella there's plenty left over and some chilled white wine left. (Lucky I didn't throw away the cork!!) Flixbus is an excellent service. Cheap although not exactly comfortable and you take your chances if you need to go to the loo!! I took it from Genoa to Florence ... 5euros - pre covid. One wee-wee stop at a local café. Bla-bla car is another good way to travel.
Had a sea-egg speciality lunch yesterday at a local restaurant. I have never had them before and quite frankly, didn't think much of the taste. I prefer a dozen oysters any day. It was a nice sociable time nonetheless.
Went out last night to get a takeaway pizza - driving into the garage, my path was crossed by the most humungous rat - scampering across the driveway. Zut alors!! I'll have to put some traps out. Living next to a stream that has just been cleared of brambles, honeysuckle etc by the Council, could be disturbing them, but they are a constant nuisance around here!! This one was almost as big as a cat!!
Swiss Ball lesson this morning so I'd better get my skates on!!
Good morning all. Sleep is improving thank you @tui34....a lot of catching up to do and still owed a few hours but some is better than none! Visitors are limited to two at the moment to keep infection down which makes sense so I've kept myself busy cooking and cleaning over the weekend. One roast chicken for yesterday and a lamb curry in the slow cooker for through the week and freezer.
Work is in Felixstowe this morning... I've some compost to deliver to my favourite customer who is itching to get cracking in the greenhouse with seeds.
I don't care for the taste of sea urchins either @tui34 though they are supposed to be a delicacy.
We had a delicious meal out yesterday to celebrate OH's birthday on Saturday. He will probably still be in hospital then. Going in on Thursday. I'm a bit nervous in view of his age and high blood pressure when in a hospital. Pudding was pretty.
I must pop out to the SM, didn't do a weekly shop last week so getting a bit low on essentials.
This afternoon we are going to tea with a friend in the village to meet a couple who bought a house here last week. They have a home in France too.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Good morning all and a special Hello to Dove and Wonky. Good to hear that he had a bit of grooming done, it is a "lifter" even under sedatives. Wishing you "proper meals" forever Dove.
It is cloudy here, 4 degrees but didn't feel the cold when out pruning raspberries, I also did a little tidying. Ah the feeling of soil on my hands! The garden got left by itself last year because I was ill, and boy can you tell! But with any luck it will be better this year. I just have to find someone who can come to prune the fruit trees.
That pudding looks lovely @Busy-Lizzie, and best wishes for OH's op. Swiss Ball lessons @tui34. Do tell!
Dreich here, but more and more signs of Spring, the Primulas are starting to flower in earnest. Don't ask why, but I was out in the garden at 4am. and had a lovely view of one of our Badgers wandering across the lawn. Good luck to @Busy-Lizzie OH.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Update from hospital is that my son remains critical but stable ... heavily sedated and ventilated ... but stable is good 👍 ... he's due to have more skin grafts tomorrow. Nurse says she'll look after him for us. 💙
I've spent the morning on the phone to car insurance etc and DVLA ... because the 'log book' etc have gone up in smoke the only DVLA phone line that was applicable was the Bereavement line ... thankfully I'm a pragmatic old bird and the owner of the South Wales accent on the end of the line was a lovely chap. They've sent me an email with what I have to do to SORN his destroyed car ...
Gotta love a badger @punkdoc ... worth the occasional nocturnal perambulation
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Hello all, i have been lurking more than usual, good days and better days with the new hip, my body is not sure that it wants to adjust to a new way of walking! I guess that swiss ball is one of the exercises i have to do at physio @tui34. Nurses are wonderful aren't they @Dovefromabove, i remember when my son was on the ventilator with covid just how kind and caring they were. Early lunch and then physio, so will catch up later.
