  • Just popping in to wish @Dovefromabove and @WonkyWomble strength and best wishes for their son/brother respectively. My dad is unwell again so I'm reverting to lurking rather than posting for the most part.

@didyw -- fwiw - vermeer is sold out although they claim there may be more tickets released if they can extend opening hours.
Kindness is always the right choice.
  • Thank you @Desi_in_London ... hope your dad is much better very soon.

    Good early evening folks.

Day is nearly done and it has been quite warm and sunny although a cool wind came up this afternoon and the temperature is due to drop from tomorrow onwards.

My wild boar daube smells divine and is "not even" at simmering point on the hob for about 6 hours now.

Take care everyone, especially to @Dovefromabove  and @WonkyWomble - you both seem to have very caring husbands who are looking after you!

Go easy on the white tonight - I have a bottle in the fridge to have as an aperitif with some delicious olives which I bought at yesterday's market.  One lot - à la catalane Another lot; a la Sardane and some black olives Greek style with herbs.  A Cabernet Sauvignon on the ready to wash down the daube.

    Enjoy your Saturday.

Do you have any idea how long your son will be in Intensive Care @Dovefromabove? How often will you be able to go there to visit? Is there any chance that if your OH doesn't go in with you again that they will allow your ex in as the 2nd person? I think that they should have made it very clear from the outset. This sort of this matters so much to families.

It's been drizzling here, enough to soften the pigeon poos on my car so I could remove them.

Loads of people came to the church coffee morning in aid of Turkey. I rushed around with trays serving people's orders. There were masses of yummy looking cakes. I took some slices home.

We agreed we wouldn’t ask them to change the rules @Busy-Lizzie … they’re for our son’s protection. If they were to let him in and then he were to get an infection his dad would never forgive himself.  It will be a few weeks  … but the time will come when he can visit. He’s fine with that.

I think that's important @Dovefromabove especially as Papa womble has just returned from a holiday and has quite a busy social life, he will have to understand as I do that it's all for the best outcome.

  • Yes Wonky … a holiday in far-flung places too x

  • Nurse said my son had not such a good day today, but medication sorted it and he’s stable again … she said don’t worry, it’s early days yet and there’ll be good days and not so good days … he’s got a long way to go as yet.
I suppose we’ll get used to the ups and downs of this journey … onwards and upwards 🤞
