@AnnaB what seems silly is that the Doc nowadays won't go to you if you feel too ill to go to the Doc, apart from all the ill people in the waiting room spreading their germs about.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I have seriously considered grabbing my daughter and booking a plane ride from Norwich to Amsterdam for the Vermeer exhibition so really envy you @coccinella. I have been to the Rijksmuseum in the past - big Van Gogh exhibition. It is a lovely space. But I did pick her up for a nice stroll around Halesworth today with a lovely cup of coffee and a pastel de nata in the deli - the Portuguese lady who makes them is back from Portugal!
I'm a couple of days behind but so glad to see @punkdoc and @Hostafan1 back. It just wasn't the same without you two!
And really glad @Dovefromabove could get to see her son this afternoon. And that @Busy-Lizzie's OH got through the pre-op OK and the date is still there for the actual op. Keeping fingers crossed on that!
And lovely to see cloud pics from @Pat E again - hope the appt. with the doc goes OK. And also wishing @AnnaB well.
I'm cooking tonight. We are having chicken stir-fry done my way. Better make the marinade.
@didyw You can get the Eurostar to Amsterdam and walk to the Rijksmuseum from Central Station. Schiphol is a great airport but it's a faff getting into the city centre

I agree now Eurostar goes direct to Amsterdam it much better than flying. I know you have to get to London first @didyw , when our friends from Norfolk came with us they said the trains in were easy and straightforward.
@Allotment Boy, It was me asking cheekily about the price of curtain cleaning. I'm not surprised at the cost, especially if they had blackout lining. I'm quite pleased I was able to handwash the ones I was given, it was worth the effort
Not done much again today, some towel washing and clearing out. Found some old photo albums of my late mother's so spent an happy hour or so looking through them. Found one of me aged 17, goodness where did the years go! Wish I still looked like that, about 7 and a half stone if I remember rightly. Also found a photo of my Dad's old Standard 10 and tiny caravan on our way up to Scotland about 1960. I hated those camping holidays with a vengeance, always seemed to be wet, cold and miles from anywhere! My siblings loved them.
Fairly busy today doing this and that. Have just prepared a marinade for a wild boar daube for tomorrow evening. It will sit in the red wine marinade overnight and I will cook it slowly slowly all day tomorrow.
Now I feel like going to Amsterdam!!! I too, was there there in the seventies all 7 and a half stone of me too @Lizzie 27 !!
I hope the afternoon with your son wasn't too heart breaking @Dovefromabove although I know from experience that as a mother, nature seems to protect us from that shock and we seem to be amazingly stoic and as others see us - cold.
I hope you all enjoy your evening and are looking forward to the weekend break.
I hope you are ok after your visit @Dovefromabove, I'm sure it would have been a bit traumatic, but equally, I'm sure he'll have been reassured by your presence. I feel for all of you.
Charlie and I are on our annual ski trip, it's been hectic trying to get organised for it, but after only one day so far on the slopes I know it was worth it, I feel so much better already.
Having a very snazzy meal this evening, by accident, every other restaurant in town was fully booked, but it'll be a real treat.
So, hello all and best wishes from us both.

Sadly we cannot afford the time (or money) to travel to Amsterdam. Daughter is back at school on Monday. But easier for us to travel from Norwich airport than to get to London and then to the Eurostar. We changed at Schipol when we went to Croatia a couple of years ago.
Dove and Wonky will need a massive pot of tea and a big slice of cake when they get home tonight. Been thinking of you all as I know visiting will have been overwhelming and exhausting.
Very ready for the weekend here. I hope I can get out in the garden as the garden waste bin won’t fill itself!
Take care and I hope the weekend is kind to you… decent weather, something social, being productive, a good rest, or a nice treat perhaps? Looks like you’ve kicked the weekend off in style @D0rdogne_Damsel - have a fabulous holiday!
