Hazel great news on both counts and an addition to the oz family. I’ve been busy and presently have the washing to do or as we call it Lilys tv, a little cat watching the washing. Hope everyone is well. Beautiful flower Ante and very cold there. Topbird hope you enjoyed your catch up with your friend. Time for a cup of tea.
Afties all. I had a disturbed night too Busy. I was up, wide awake at 4am but went back an hour later and eventually dropped off for a couple more hours. OH and I have been to the garden centre this morning. OH wanted a plant with some height for the front garden. We came away with an Osmanthus Burkwoodii ( again)( which we've had before) with strict instructions to keep it well trimmed. We both like them though. OH got a small geranium for the greenhouse and another little plant which I can't remember the name of right now. Ive managed to turn some soil in the back garden this afternoon and planted out a couple of perennials but that's it for today....which is very good for me at the moment. Debs, I am so sorry to hear about your friends sons. How very worrying for everyone and poor soul, what a dire situation for the son to be going through. You can only help with moral and physical support really and being a good friend by listening. I agree though that the Doctors may a first step for help. Topbird, bon voyage, drive carefully and enjoy your break. Like LB, I shall look forward to Topbird's Tales😊 Rosie, snap! I've had Lily's TV on too today. Temperatures here have got to 14 degrees....positively tropical.
Good afternoon. It’s tippling down as I type, after a pleasant, warm sunny morning. We got home just in time from the GC. Came home empty handed on this occasion, but we did have a nice lunch there.
Afternoon all. Spent the morning packing and doing a bit of prep for dinner at MIL's tomorrow evening. Was hoping to get outside to mulch this pm, but it's been raining on and off most of the day and only stopped reliably about 4.15pm - and by then the urge had passed. Hopefully it won't hurt too much if it's left until next weekend, but right now would ideal. Sod's law but there we go...
Hoping to set off about 10am tomorrow - depends what time the tea fairy arrives😉
Debs - what a dreadful situation for your friend. She will be completely torn about what to do and it doesn't seem right in this day and age. Nothing you can do beyond offering moral support for which I am sure she is grateful. Not sure selling the house is the right way to go unless she is 100% certain her son will stop using if he receives treatment. We seem to have a network of volunteer support groups for different problems around here. Not the same as good medical intervention I know, but maybe better than nothing. Maybe for her if not for him.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Thanks everyone I think the problem is he needs to be “clean” before most help is available and he is still in denial about his addiction despite a weekend in hospital. He is 19 and considers himself invincible. He has had mental health issues for years, his dad suffers from depression and both his paternal grandparents committed suicide long before he was born so I see a pattern there.
Unfortunately I know from experience that this is a terrible illness that causes pain to everyone around the addict.
I am trying to be supportive to my friend and she has other good friends around her. She loved her delivery today.
I have been to my sisters for lunch and had a few hours in the garden so feeling more positive thank goodness for our gardens!
Raining now so a glass of wine and a good book and plenty of chocolate on the menu.
Bless you all, so caring and kind in the midst of your own problems. Thank you.
Oh @debs64, I didn’t read the posts properly before I posted mine. I’m so sorry to hear about your friend and the huge worry she has regarding her son. It’s good that she has you and other good friends to support her. It seems so tragic that help is so difficult to obtain now, when your friend and her son really needs it. I agree with Topbird about not selling the house, though. I do hope that she can contact her GP and see if they can offer support and advice as to where to go next.
Evening all, So sorry to hear about your friend's son @debs64 such a terrible situation to be in. It's a good job she has good friends. Some very sharp showers here today. Went with Bestie to a local garden centre and luckily we missed the showers. Didn't buy anything but it was nice to get out and about.
We saw an ambulance parked on our drive this afternoon so I went to investigate. NDN had another fall in the night. She rang 999 but didn't press her button or ring any friends and neighbours. Said she didn't want to bother us. Other NDN was a carpenter, he managed to get the lock out of the front door, he's put it back now. I told the paramedic that I'd been a nurse so they asked me to change her nightclothes and pack a bag. They've taken her to hospital.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Oh my goodness Busy. What a shock for you and your neighbours. The poor lady - not wanting to bother you - bless her but they don't realise that we WANT to help which is why we agree to be added to their ICE lists. You had only just done some shopping for her the other day hadn't you? I hope that it is not too serious.
Debs, I am pleased that the haven of your garden has helped to dispel some of the gloom for you. My garden - even in its present scruffy state does the same for me.
I am thinking - having read a few posts on here - that I may have a trip to a GC tomorrow - weather permitting. It is so strange how it can be sunny and pleasant for a short while and then pouring down.
I had an interesting lunch time. I sang at a wedding. The bride was Japanese - very pretty and so slender. I was helping out a friend. I really enjoyed it.
Hazel I have an Osmanthus heterophyllus in my front hedge. Everyone thinks is a holly.
Well what can I say, England have managed to be very mediocre this Six
Nations Championship. Back to the drawing board Steve Borthwick.
