    Morning all.

Sun is shining so I'll plant my plants before we go to the SM.

NDN didn't come home yesterday. They are still assessing her. The occupational therapist rang me yesterday. They wanted her to have a home help but she is refusing. I also spoke to another of her friends who helps with her shopping. This friend won't be able to help soon as she is having a hip replacement next week.

I'm sorry tha @Debs fiancé is having to work such long hours. It had seemed such an ideal job for him.

    Morning all.
Yesterday, for the first time in nearly six weeks, I felt so much better and more like myself. Therefore, because it was a lovely day ( although we did have gusty winds) we spent a great deal of time out in the garden. OH cut both grasses and edged one of them. I tried out a new edging tool on the other lawn.( went back to using shears ).  For me, it was a slow process as I kept stopping and taking rather long breaks between tasks. But it was lovely and liberating and the gardens looks so much better now. We planted out a couple of new plants including a variegated leaf holly.
Today, we're off to SM and we are hoping to make a short overnight visit to mum early next week. Having said that, there are wintry showers forecast for the weekend....
LB, go easy today, these things take ages don't they? Always difficult to deciding what to keep and what to get rid of.
Debs, hope your fiancés can get something sorted about work. Nothing is easy is it?

Been to SM and had a two deliveries since getting home. Got Lily's TV on and material now blowing in the breeze, should dry nicely. OH is in the middle of planting out the Burkwoodii but it's hard going. He's putting it down our side path/driveway which is feet deep with gravel and builders rubble, but he's making progress. Is enriching the area with soil and compost, FBB and breaking up what's there and mixing it all together. I must tie in a clematis this afternoon ( Jack Manii) which is going bonkers.
Then I need to get the hot metal, flat thing out🤭
  • Lily thank you I’ve just had a cuppa.  Given Alfie a good brushing and he’s had his treats and snuggling on the sofa.  I’ve just managed to get most of the post sorted cutting addresses, references, etc out and swapping new bills for old, what a pile there was.  LB pleased to hear Jack is home and back in his own bed.  Lovely flower Ante.  Hazel glad to hear you felt much better yesterday, hope it continues.  Enjoy your day everyone.

    Good afternoon.

Well, it’s turned into a very showery day after a bright start. I got some more cloth things out on the string but had to hurriedly bring them in again to dry indoors. Oh well, never mind. I suppose the gardens and reservoirs will benefit from this rain.

Sorry to hear that your fiancé is having to work such long hours @debs64 - they can’t be sustained though, and his employer is going to have to do something or risk losing your fiancé.

A beautiful tulip @Ante1. I’ve got a few in bloom, but a lot aren’t ready yet.

Good to hear that Jack is back home, LB.

LB, good to hear about Jack, hope his recovery goes well. Wouldn't like to deal with the ray problem, I do confess, mice are bad enough.
Red Maple, have got all my material things dry, luckily, but have decided to get the hot metal thing out tomorrow now. Tired after all the physical activities of the last couple of days.
Ante, lovely picture of the tulip, lucky you. Glad the weather has settled down somewhat. I'm  so surprised at how fast your sisters visit has gone, amazing.
Four days after sowing, OH's cosmos are popping through by the dozens😲👍

Hello all just got in from a long day at work. The bus company that is working is obviously overstretched and struggling but I got into work on time and everyone at work has been so lovely and accommodating.
Fiancé knew the job was going to be hard but the hours are ridiculous and his sous chef is also exhausted. Things are starting to improve although it’s a difficult task to get chefs at the moment they are in short supply. Menus have been reduced and that should help. It would be a perfect job if there were enough staff.
One good thing about the new bus route is it passes lots of houses and I can play spot the magnolia they are a favourite of mine and I love this time as they just start to open.

I was pleased to read your cheerful post @Songbird-2, glad you are feeling better and enjoying the garden again.

I did 1 1/2 hours of weeding and planting this morning. Baby sycamore seedlings everywhere from neighbours tree, nettle seedlings from neighbour's chicken run, the neighbour whose garden goes behind ours, not NDN who is still in hospital.

Done the weekly shop, OH came too. I think that counts as his daily exercise, he's gone for a lie down.

Thank you Bush, I certainly do feel so much more cheerful than I have  for a good while. Pain really does drag you down when it is seemingly endless.
We, too, have been picking sycamore seedlings out of the driveway today. They are all just at that germinating stage so conditions must be just right for them.
Your OH has done very well to go to the SM, he will be tired after that but each day, he will grow stronger and stronger.....with no more pain, bonus!
Debs, glad you've managed to get to work and back home again without too much disruption. Lack of staff these days seems a very real problem for many many companies etc. Hope he can rescue those hours soon, unsustainable.

    Good evening all.
Busy and Hazel you have been working hard again today. Busy, living up to your name again. Well done on good jobs completed. I am jealous as it rained all day here.
Love the sound of your Clio Busy.
Hazel, it was so nice reading your upbeat post but don't be overdoing stuff.
Interesting you both mentioning about sycamore seedlings as when I was helping Bestie empty the shed at her friend's house today the guttering at the back of the GH is absolutely full of the little perishers. We got a lot done but it is a nightmarish job. The auction house people are coming on Monday to pick up loads of stuff and then we will have to sort through things that won't be suitable to be auctioned e.g. a three piece suite without its fire safety tags, and, as he was an electrician by trade, loads of things that would have to be PAT tested.
