Afternoon all. Another white day when I awoke at 7am to take my car in for service. Then it all cleared and now it's snowing hard again. Might have to turn the heating up a notch - my hands are like blocks of ice. Homemade soup for lunch to warm me up.
Just had a lovely What's App from my god daughter / niece. She lives in Vancouver so haven't seen her for a couple of years but have seen pictures of her boyfriend of the last 12 months. Seems they've decided to 'run away' to get married on a beach in Hawaii on Sunday followed by cake for breakfast. Just the two of them - no family or friends at all. Aaaaww - how romantic🥰
I am reakky not a fan of big weddings and whole heartedly approve of what they're doing. I suspect mum and dad will be more than a little disappointed but - tough titty. Their life, their day and I love them for having the courage to do it despite what the immediate families think. Looking forward to watching it on a live stream.
Debs - I'm sorry to hear your OH is a bit unsettled with his new job. Hazel's six month cool off period is a good strategy. It's always disorienting working in a new place with new people and, after the initial flurry of excitement, you start to see all the cracks and problems. Hope he can see a way to make it work for himself.
LB - hope you enjoyed your breakfast. Was it a full English? Fingers crossed for some good news about Jack today.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Chilly here but no snow yet. Possibly due later this afternoon...
I wouldn't be able to follow the 6-month guideline as most of my contracts don't last that long If I come up against something that I don't think is quite right, immediate stamping of feet ensues Â
Off into town shortly to see if my new Advantage card is working.
PS. Back now. Card worked (it's been a palaver getting the points transferred from a snapped card) and, sure enough, the light snow flurries have started. Also paid my first library fine ever Â
Good afternoon everyone. Had a lovely time at the GC this morning - so nice to catch up with my friends. We had a leisurely breakfast and mooch. It started to snow just as we were leaving to head homewards. I was nearly run into by a lunatic driver who shot out from behind a large van held up behind a dustbin lorry. Luckily there was nothing behind me and my brakes and reactions were enough to avoid a crash. I was shaken and b***dy cross. My friend in the car was quite shaken up. Pedestrians and the van driver just held their hands up in disbelief. All was fine thank goodness. Once I dropped off my friend and got home I had to set about changing the battery in my keyless fob as the warning message came up on the dash board telling me that the battery was almost flat. Luckily I found a little vid. on youtube which showed me what to do and I did have the required battery in my stash. This key fob is slightly different to the one I had for my last car but youtube is a fount of knowledge.
It has been snowing nearly all afternoon but just tiny flakes and so far none of it is lying. I have texted Bestie to say that should it be bad tomorrow I will not be going to the Food Bank. Fingers crossed all is fine.
T'Bird, what a lovely, heart warming story about your goddaughter/niece and OK, I 'fess up to feeling envious of their trip to the happy place they chose to go to to exchange their vows. I agree with you - their day; their choice and who couldn't wish for a better breakfast! Speaking of breakfast, I was very restrained in what I had but we four couldn't resist rubber necking at a HUGE bloke on the table alongside us who had a myocardial infarction on a plate which he proceeded to attack violently only leaving the plate, knife and fork (and us!) as witness to his total consumption. We big kids just snorted and giggled! We should not be let out!
Biglad, do please tell us how you snapped your card in the first place? Were you trying to gain access somewhere???
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Just a sprinkling of snow in the garden and nothing lying on the roads yet, but we're in the Amber alert area expected to get 25-40cms during today/tomorrow. Hope they've got it wrong!
@Ladybird4 that myocardial infarction option sounds tasty Â
Nothing as interesting as that - I snapped the card after using it one too many times as a windscreen scraper Â
A very good morning one and all. No snow here yet but it is very frosty. A bit better for getting to the Food Bank.
Heard from Jack's daughter last night. Jack is still on a gurney in a corridor but they are hoping to get him onto a ward soon. They have suggested to his daughter that a DNR form should be discussed but she has not to panic as yet. He is due for more MRI scans so will be in hospital for a bit longer. Not sounding too good I think.

Good morning all we have a lot of snow here but my new ankle wellies meant I felt safe walking down the rather steep hill from my house to the bus stop and all traffic seems to be busy as always.Â

It served me well for many a year!
