Afternoon all - we're home! Came back on last night's overnight ferry instead of the day crossing today. Good result!
An hour's drive home, van completely unpacked, Lily's TV x 2 completed, all clothes, food and bits and bobs unpacked and away, supermarket run done and dusted, bills paid - all by 11.30am. You can get an awful lot done when you get kicked out of bed at 6am!!
OH has even decided that today is an ideal time to cut some of the boundary hedge - so he's doing that right now. Couldn't really do it in the summer because it was so stressed by drought. On the plus side there wasn't that much growth this year (due to weather) and, being a beech hedge, he's now really just trimming twigs and the volume of trimmings is considerably less than it would be when the hedge is in full leaf. With a bit of luck (and a lot of cramming) it will all fit in the council garden bin and won't require the usual trip to the tip.
Hoping tomorrow will be a good day to get out in the garden. There'll be the hedge clearing up to do plus making a start on tree and rose pruning. (I'm feeling the itch now...)
Ante - your entrance hall / verandah will look very smart when it's done. We're also fans of really big tiles and we like black and white colour schemes too. A very neutral background against which you can put pops of colour with soft furnishings and plants.
Debs - what a shame you missed the party but that's a super photo. Hope you enjoyed Sunday lunch!
Enjoy the rest of Sunday folks. I need to make tea for the (reluctant) gardener.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Good afternoon all. I'm looking forward to the rugby this afternoon so I'll be getting a brew on soon. Like Ruby, Debs, I am just wondering where those 2 years have gone to. He is such a little sweetie. His pj's are very cute - I wonder if he'll wear them when he's 3! I expect he will have grown out of them by then.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Do you know Busy, but I reckon my feet are the best thermometer for me - they always feel like two blocks of ice in the cold weather!
Welcome home T'Bird. My goodness but you have been a busy person today. Well done on getting all the essentials done. I'll join you in feeling 'the itch'. Tomorrow has a big 'G' for garden on it!
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
hi all.ย The day seems to have got away from me today. Got up and went for a wander round the garden and then ,after going into the shed, I decided ย to do some more organising ย and cleaning and clearing up in there. Three hours plus later, and after washing down all the plastic domes I am finished for today. Although it was a bit cool, keeping busy kept me warm. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, I also did some tidying up round the garden, spotted more signs of spring in the soil and now feel pleasantly tired.
My feet are always cold too. That's why my best friend is a hot water bottle....he goes everywhere with me๐๐
Topbird, welcome home but your post left me shattered๐ฑ Wow, what a lot you've got done since getting back.๐ฒ๐ You deserve ย a G and T after all that.
Hi folks,ย I have just finished reading back, you are all such a chatty lot.ย I can't remember everything, but I do know that quite have few have been feeling poorly so I hope thing are improving.ย I went to Blenheim last year with Secondborn, had a lovely time, the building was very impressive.ย It's a large estate, too large for me to walk all the way around but we covered a fair bit. I've spent the morning in the garden clearing out a border and pruning roses.ย Managed to get quite a bit done.ย The tree man is coming tomorrow to give the rowan/ivy a good haircut.ย He's pretty good at tidying up and then I think one more day will break the back of the spring clear up.ย ย Good to 'see' you Pauline Happy Birthday Thomas Glad to hear that Chey is doing well.
Hello there Yvie. Well done for getting into your garden this morning. All these posts are making me look forward to tomorrow. Its nice when you don't have anything on the agenda apart from getting into the garden.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
I noticed that all my squabbly starlings were back around the feeder in the front garden - bullying the house sparrows. No sign of them when I was doing my Big Garden Birdwatch!

Debs, Happy Birthday to Thomas. He is already two.
Yvie, nice to see you. It's nice that you spent some time in the garden. Hope the tree man will do properly his job tomorrow.
T'bird, willkommen zu Hause. I'm glad your journey went well.ย
I spent whole day inside. Noe is much better but wind was quite high. I was preparing for school tomorrow. Now is Poirot on tv, and it's Christmas episode.ย ย

Busy, the news is awful at the moment isn't it? You're right, it is a recipe for depression.๐ข
