  • We watched "Catch Me If You Can". Wife's choice.

Followed by watching this enormous spider run across the lounge carpet!!!

Where do these things come from?
Now squashed!! A well aimed slipper did the job.

What did that poor spider do to be given the slipper?
  • Made my wife scream. Neighbours must have wondered what was going on in our house!! A couple of scream at 9pm, followed by a rather loud THUD!!
  • Actually, a couple of thuds. The first slipper missed. 🤣

🕷 My son and OH tell me we’ve had a huge hairy spider called Boris living under the radiator in the downstairs loo for weeks … I’ve not seen him 🫢 I think he hides when I go in there with a broom 😉  … OH has put him out in the porch now.

Beer glass and sheet of paper method saves scraping bits of spider off the carpet. ( Make sure glass is empty first - although this might affect your aim)
When I see a huge spider, I tell myself I've never seen one running towards me. They tend to run away. Then get my husband to remove it using the above method.

  • I didn't have the time to get anything to trap him with. Yes, normally a glass jar and a piece of paper/card. But speed was required - which was why I missed with the first slipper. I'm not sure what would have happened if I'd missed with the second. 😳 I'm not sure my wife would have been too happy!!

We had a similar incident with a mouse 21 years ago. Overnight!! Wife ended up sleeping downstairs, because there was a mouse in the bedroom (on the headboard, then all around the room).

Its end came when I trapped it, prevented it from escaping by using the hoover nozzle (on full) and hastening its end with a screwdriver.
Nowadays, I would trap them humanely (not that we have any indoors now), but our mouse troubles saw many reaching an early demise.
