I had a success yesterday.  At the Allotments last week one of my friends there noted I was using a stake to prop up the tailgate of my car. I said the gas struts had become weak and I would need to get them replaced.  He said don't go to the garage they will charge a fortune,  order them on line , I can help you fit them it's a 5 min job. So I  took his advice, we fitted the new ones yesterday.  I couldn't believe how easy it was,  the price , £11.98 for the pair delivered.  I  was concerned they were so cheap they would be no good but they seem fine. 🙂

Bargain @Allotment Boy.  We had them replaced on our old Zafira after the boot/back door landed on our heads once too often.   60€ parts and labour with chappy in the village who now does our services too.  It would have cost 3 times that at the Opel garage plus an 80km round trip.

We've had a decent amount of rain at last. Makes such a difference.

  • Been and picked more raspberries. In my opinion, there's not much that can outdo a bowl of homegrown raspberries - and cream.

I went back to the garden centre, with my own purse, and bought more multiplants. Ha!

Some Stipa tenuissima had seeded itself in next door's tub so I got at least a million baby plants from that too.

@Obelixx, yes that what my friend was saying,  the garage would charge £50 ish at least. They may not last as long as the originals but as long as I get a couple of years out of them it will be a bargain.

RTBC if you're a brocade moth caterpillar. A great year for them, it seems. I'm happy enough too - so long as they stick to their preferred diet of purple toadflax.
    In London. Keen but lazy.
