I've had another gardening day, knackered, but all the beds are now weeded and mulched so I hope they will be OK for our stay in Norfolk. I dug up the 6 bush salvias that I'd planted in the round rose bed as they were smothering the roses. Planted them elsewhere.

Tomorrow we'll be packing and loading the car.

  • HNY to you all. I second, third and fourth the wishes for a better year. I've been popping in occasionally to try and keep up with you all.
Been a bit manic, last year - hub was slow to recover from surgery, got made redundant just before Christmas and got the all clear from his checkups after it, so the year did end on a high.
He's now.... wait for it.... planning what he's going to grow in in the garden and greenhouse this year (ha, the greenhouse is my domain!!)
But it will be nice to have a gofer this yearĀ  B)

May your year be productive, happy and peaceful

You’ve really had one heck of a year @Penny_Forthem … so glad you two have at last been able to celebrate properly. šŸ’” perhaps a His greenhouse next to the Hers? šŸ˜‰Ā

Evening everyone. Lovely to hear from those who haven’t popped in for a while.Ā

@Hostafan1 - focus and find positivity in the little things so the big things don’t have room to take over.Ā

His and Hers greenhouses!!! That’s a dreamy idea!!

We’ve chosen sausage, mash, veg and Yorkshires for our Sunday dinner tonight.Ā

The brioche and chocolate orange pudding last night was a triumph so I recommend that (bit of a treat though in terms of calories, partly incurred by the double cream with vanilla liqueur on top).Ā

    Take care folks.Ā
My garden and I live in South Wales.Ā

We didn’t stay up last night, but left daughter and son in law with a bottle of fizz and some music channels! Today, we had our belated Christmas dinner, everything cooked to perfection. I fulfilled my annual Christmas tradition of forgetting part of the meal! I double checked the oven, hob and microwave before we sat down, all empty. It wasn’t until we had nearly finished eating that I remembered having made bread sauce. The jug was sitting on the worktop. Otherwise, quite a successful effort! Guests leaving tomorrow, and then back to some sort of routine.
Hope everyone’s 2023 is a big improvement. Good to hear from you, @Hostafan1, keep strong.

A quiet day here for us as it was raining most of the time. Daughter took the dogs off across the fields to check on the ponies while I struggled with the rayburn which seems to be refusing to draw properly. As we have not long had it cleaned out ready for the cold weather I can only presume that the wind has changed direction somewhat.
Hope you are all looking forward to 2023 with renewed vigour and enthusiastic thoughts.
Safe journey to Busy and special hugs for Hosta.
