Hope to hear you reporting that you and your OH are back safe and sound soon @steephill.Ā  Take it easy out there!

@D0rdogne_Damsel, IĀ  guess there's not much you can do except tell her, & let her deal with it.Ā  BTWĀ  they said on a programme this morning that "blue Monday " is nothing more than a marketing ploy by a travel company to get people to book summer holidays šŸ˜€.Ā
When IĀ  came back from my yoga class at around 8:45 the gauge in the car showed -3, I had to clear ice off the INSIDEĀ  of the car windows before IĀ  could drive home.Ā Ā

Brilliant news @punkdoc, many congratulations to you and Moira, what a relief for you both. Let's hope that IS the last you hear from that awful man.
Hope you and OH got hope safely earlier @steephill, Have had a couple of those narrow escapes in the past myself where a narrow opening arose just at the right time. Daughter says she will be leaving half an hour earlier tomorrow morning for work to allow for frosty roads, so she will be getting up around 3.30am to leave at 4.30 and with my sleeping 'issues' at the moment, I will just be going to sleep! Ships that pass in the night springs to mind.

Well it looks like I was very lucky. Went past the same spot very cautiously half an hour later and there were two cars on top of each other 6 feet up a bank in the hedge. I don't think there were any serious injuries thankfully, just a few shocked looking people standing about.

Crikey, that was a narrow escape @steephill. You must be a more skilful driver than they.

    Good morning to you all.

Hooray @punkdoc Ā What a shame it wasn't the same judge the first time. Ā Still, justice has prevailed which shows there are some people serious about their work!!

@steephill Ā Careful out there today if you have to take the car!!
@D0rdogne_Damsel Ā  Not much use dwelling on other people's problems - the owner shouldn't have said such a silly thing!!

We have the cold down here too.  A balmy 7°C forecast for today and luckily no wind.  Very heavy thick fog this morning as a consequence.

3 trips to the tip on Sunday with massive branches from the Mulberry tree. Ā Another trip yesterday with a very ruthlessly pruned jasmine and plumbago. Ā My body says stop, so a quiet day today. Ā Tiring maybe, so why was I awake at 3.30am this morning - impossible to get back to sleep. Ā I have to go to the Drs today for a repeat prescription and the appointment was made early January. Ā So I have to go. Ā She'll take my BP and tell me it's high. Ā Sigh.

Today's expression is short and to the point: Ā A la Sainte Antoine, grande froidure.

Keep warm and stay safe everyone.

    Good morning all 😊 ā˜•ļøĀ
Brrr! we’ve a hard frost this morning. Thinking of all who are working outside this week.Ā
Glad you’re ok @steephill … the thing is that we get these gold conditions so rarely that some folk have no experience of driving in icy conditions … for some of us, especially those of us whose 17th birthdays fell in the winter, we had the opportunity to learn to drive in poor conditions. I’m forever grateful. Also, after my son passed his test, his 18th birthday present was a session at Snetterton racetrack learning how to handle performance cars and plenty of practice on the skid pan. He says it did him the world of good.Ā

  • Good morning all,

Scary out there on he roads, well done @steephill for managing that. Take care everyone.Ā

I know the people taking stuff from the owner of the house is not my problem, but it doesn't leave a very nice taste in the mouth. I also know the same couple work for lots of elderly people in the area doing gardening and odd jobs, often when the owners are away. I have heard a few grumbles about excessive charges, just raises flags for me. Nothing I can do, and really not right I should do anything, but I certainly won't be recommending their services.

Weather bright here, although due to turn colder. The wind had been strong but has calmed down a bit now.Ā

A little bit of cheer for me this week too, Charlie's school teachers and the dormitory staff are on strike on Weds/Thursday (that's not the good news) so he's asked if he and two friends can come and stay with me on Wednesday evening, we are only an hour from school, his friends live well over two hours away and they have to go back Thursday evening, easier to come here. It will be so lovely to have a house full of boisterous boys! Now to decide what to feed them :)

Have a good day all, do stay safe and warm.Ā
