    Good morning everyone!

Cold here too - 1°C and snow flurries forecast for this evening, so a trip to SM today instead of tomorrow.

Isn't it nice being able to bring summer back through food? Ā Just a visit to the freezer for grilled peppers, tomatoes etc. Ā I didn't freeze much last summer as the tomato production was meagre but I certainly froze peppers, grilled or pureed and quite a bit of ratatouille.

Here's hoping:  Neige à Sainte Prisca, va apporter une belle année que voilà!

Une belle journƩe to you all!!

    Thank you @tui34 … that’d be very welcome 😃
I must say the tomato risotto was really lovely … memories of sunshine … and leftovers for lunch today šŸ˜‹Ā

    Morning all,Ā

Boiler man is here and I'm sitting wrapped in a blanket with a hot water bottle. Last night wasn't too bad and I was surprised to find the temperature inside the house when we woke up at 7 am was 12.6c. Not bad I thought considering it was freezing outside overnight, goes to show the value of good insulation.Ā  Stlll below freezing outside now but sunshine's just appearing so hopefully going to warm up a little. No plans for today, not sure what we'll do.

    Thank you @tui34.Ā Ā

Pixel is a very sweet cat @Pat E and tomato risotto sounds good @Dovefromabove.

    Glad you're not too chilly @Lizzie27 :)Ā

There's enough risotto left for two lunches, so we'll have it tomorrow when OH is at home ... he's working today.Ā Ā

    Good morning all,
another very keen frost here this morning, but no snow, which appears to be further west.
I hope the boiler man fixes your boiler today @Lizzie27. I’m glad it’s not too cold indoors for you, although 12 degrees isn’t great for too long but certainly better than - 1 degree.
Some tasty sounding dinners were had last night, making me feel peckish 😁.
Well better go, it’s nearly time for my exercise class.

Morning all, just back from our holiday (?) minding our granddaughter during long school holidays in SE Queensland, a bit of a shock to the system to go from temperatures of 28c plus to minus 2c.
We left the boiler on minimum setting 7c and turned the water off and it seems to have been satisfactory, no signs of damp or mould (something we have to be aware of as it's an old house). It will take a while for the walls to warm through but as it was 11pm when we got home we just turned the heating and the electric blanket on and went to bed.
When I've plucked up courage I will venture out into the snow to see if the garden has survived without me!Ā

Very icy out there this morning. Treacherous dog walk, so I'm staying in the rest of the day. The sun's out so hopefully it'll be better by tomorrow

    Morning all.Ā

Another frost. The mole man should be coming this afternoon to check his traps but the ground is frozen. I don't like having to call him, I wish the moles would stick to the wild bit behind our garden. NDN's had their garden paved, they were so fed up with the moles.

I hope you manage to keep warm enough @Lizzie27, 12.6C is pretty chilly.Ā  I hope your house warms up quickly @Suesyn. I hope you enjoyed your stay in Australia.

Sounds as if you made all the right precautions while you were away @Suesyn.Ā
What a darling little cat Pixel is @PatE.Ā
    Tomato risotto sounds delish @Dovefromabove.

I had a meeting last night - woolly hat and gloves were needed for the walk to and from it.Ā  Lots of frost and ice but no snow here as yet.

And I was grateful the car started today for a trip to the bank in the next town, where they still have a couple of banks.Ā  Called into the farm shop on the way back and picked up some of their handmade sausages.Ā  Was not tempted by the haggis.

Tonight our local historical society has a talk.Ā  It is someone who dresses up on character and tells that character's story as if she is her.Ā  We've had Margery Kempe and Edith Cavell (from her cell before being shot).Ā  Always good.Ā  Tonight Mathew - she will be Queen Victoria!

Our heating is back on and we have hot water!Ā  Boiler man finished the job about 11 ish, talked us through the controls and left the bill. He also very kindly drilled some holes in the side wall for me so I can put up a new shelving unit. I will have to wait until the polyfilla has dried where he made good the wall, wash it down and do a quick repaint job, it's a mixture of two odd colours at the moment. That's tomorrow's job sorted.

It was so sunny at 12 ish I decided I'd better get some exercise and walk off the doughnuts OH brought back from the bakery so did a brisk walk round the block. Lovely to see bulbs popping through in everyone's garden.
