We wore pleated maroon skirts in winter (yes I did roll up the waist) with grey shirt and jumper and maroon and grey striped tie, grey socks and baggy grey knickers. The knickers were part of the uniform. In summer we wore pink and white striped summer dresses with long white socks and outside the school we had to wear a straw boater and white lacy gloves.
When I started nursing we had to kneel on the floor so that Matron could check that our hems touched the floor. May have mentioned that before.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I’m off to bed for an early night because I have to get up at 6am so that I’ll be ready for the community driver to collect me for my appointment in Canberra with the specialist. Another long day predicted. 😡 catch up tomorrow.
Green cake anyone? Haven't cut it yet as there was another one there. Don't dare tell them I really shouldn't eat it either-too much sugar! Form an orderly queue.
Swiss Ball lesson this morning - chilly start. 5°C now and sunny but we still have the glacial wind. My washing is dry and in the conservatory warming up. I cycled to my exercise class which, surprisingly wasn't that difficult. Then a zip to Lidl after that.
Same uniform @Busy-Lizzie Just different colours. Bullet proof stockings and garters and witches britches which were an undergarment like a bermuda which kept the gap on the upper thigh between the stocking and the undies warm. We would hitch the skirt up so that you could just see the lace on the bottom of the witches britches!!
Quiet afternoon and a brisk walk with the dog are on the cards today.
What a fabulous cake @Allotment Boy, save a small slice for me please.
All this talk about uniforms made me laugh. Yes I remember the baggy knickers - navy in my case. And we had to knee on the floor to check that our skirts (and games shorts) touched the floor to be the correct length.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
