One of my cats (George ‘The Naughty’) likes to jump from my headboard to the top of the wardrobe and then jumps down onto the bed, so I can vouch for that being a rude awakening @Pat E.
A light dusting of snow only this morning but the house was really cold. Feel for you @Lizzie27 - I hope water and leccy stay on once they finish for the day so you can have a hot meal and hot water bottle this evening.
Such a shock @Lizzie27. Condolences to you. And having to contend with having a new boiler too. Literally feel your pain on that one - we had ours put in during a cold snap in early Dec.
Love your pics @Pat E - brilliant that you managed to get the cockatoos before they all flew away. Sounds like you are feeling a teeny bit better? Despite Pixel's best efforts.
Woke up feeling cold this morning - so I knew before even getting out of bed that there would be a frost.
I will walk into town to get my hair cut and leave enough time to pop in to see a local art exhibition before it closes in a couple of days time.
Another meeting tonight - might have to walk to that too if the car remains covered in ice as it is now.
Night night everyone. Loved your cat stories . I can relate very well. It’s after midnight and Pixel is sitting on my lap purring, very loudly, while I’m trying to read my story. 🙄
Thanks for your condolences @Ergates and @didyw. It all helps.
Thankfully having the boiler chap here all morning gave me something else to think about. We were surprised just how quickly he has worked, the new boiler and pipework have been installed and he'll come back tomorrow to finish off and show us how it works. A very pleasant and efficient man. it wasn't quite as cold indoors as we had anticipated as we've had sunshine all morning and have an electric heater on in the lounge. Tonight might be a little more nippy but electric and water are now back on.
I actually got togged up and did some work outside, figuring it might be warmer outside than in!. Swept the courtyard and then down the drive although some leaves were frozen to the paving. Took 3 trugs full up to the leafbin. Enjoyed being outside. Several more clumps of snowdrops have blooms.
I hope your heating will be working well tomorrow @Lizzie27.
I thought I'd polish some wooden furniture with proper wax polish but found that someone hadn't put the lid back properly and it was all dried up. Someone thought he was being helpful while I wasn't there - which was actually nice of him.
We decided to do the weekly shop and also go to the hardware shop and buy a tin of polish. So I've hardly done any HW. We watched Father Brown instead, had coffee and buttered fruit malt loaf.
Internet keeps going off.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hope the internet gets sorted @Busy-Lizzie 🤞 Dont throw the hard polish away … I presume it’s beeswax? … if so you can soften it by working some real turps into it, and it’s good for the furniture. 👍

Pixel last night tried something different. I was reading in bed when I realised she was sitting beside the bed on my side and looking up at me as if to say is it ok if I jump up tonight. She’s so clever! She then spent the rest of the night snuggled up to me. 🤭
