Happy New Year to you all, we had a nice evening with our neighbours last night and saw in the New Year together. We werenāt late home though, tucked up in bed by 1 am. A lazy day in store today. Just popped out to re-deliver a letter that should have gone to a different street, and it was a pleasant walk. Chilly, but ok wrapped up. The sun is out for now, but weāve had some heavy showers between. Think that will be the pattern for the day, weather wise.
Good afternoon all. I'm hoping for a better year than last ( not hard ) Struggling with grief and depression still, but I'd like to thank you all for the good wishes and support you've shown me. You're too kind.
Huge hugs for you @Hostafan1 ā¦youāve given plenty of Hostahugs to those in need in the past ⦠nows the time for you to let us hug you back š¤ xx

Happy new year to all - and lovely to see that you have popped in @Hostafan1.Ā Depression is a bugger.Ā Ā There were a few friends on FB who (like us) didn't stay up until midnight last night and one commented that this is a day like any other.Ā But I felt impelled to say that it isn't - that the transition from one year to another is special, as is any liminal state and that the Romans had a god - Janus - to rule over this very thing.Ā And we are now in his month.Ā Janus is showing us his young face at the moment - I'll take some of that hope for a more beneficial renewal!
We didn't stay up but were briefly woken up by some fireworks, not enough to annoy us however so just went back to sleep.Ā
I'm happy because I've done some gardening today. It's been dry and around 11c so warm enough suitably clothed. I pruned three roses and took off their rusty steel rose baskets, they don't need support any more and it was difficult to prune them properly back to the base. Three down and about 20 roses to go but I need to take it steady and not overdo things as I'm wont to do. New year's resolution no.1!
