Night @Pat E, I agree, those strawberries look yummy.

Cold, grey and damp today so haven't ventured out, except to adjust the netting over the bulb barricade I put up yesterday. Heartened though to see more snowdrops poking through. Waiting for the last of the big acer leaves to fall before I pick them all up from the flower bed/path underneath, very pretty though, all bright orange ones.

I've changed the bedclothes today and have put the lovely warm brushed cotton ones on the bed - we'll be toasty warm tonight which is good as the temps are going to plunge.

Are you expecting very cold temps soon @coccinella and @floralies?  I can't bear to think of the poor people in Ukraine and what they are/will be going through.

Hope you enjoy lunch with son 2 @Busy-Lizzie and the Advent service.

    Good afternoon.
It brightened up nicely after rain first thing, but the rain is back now and it’s dropping colder. We’re having to rely on our gas fire and an electric heater to keep warm this evening as a pipe under the bathroom sink has sprung a leak so we’ve had to turn the water off and the boiler off until someone comes to fix the problem sometime tomorrow (they couldn’t send anyone out today). You don’t realise how much you rely on water until you don’t have it, though I suppose we can turn the cold water back on briefly if we run short to replenish the containers we filled up.
Popped out to church first thing then I wrapped up some presents this afternoon, but that’s about all I’ve achieved today.
Hope you’ve all had a good Sunday so far.

Thank you @Lizzie27. We enjoyed both  :)

I hope your plumber comes tomorrow @Red maple, not much fun when it's cold.

Yes @Busy-Lizzie, I hope they are not too long in coming. We’ve been given a time span between 8 am and 6 pm. I’m hoping it’s closer to the former!
  • Fingers crossed @Red maple 🤞 you can join us on this big sofa if you’re chilly … the heating is on and we’ve got a big wooden Welsh tapestry blanket over our knees … much warmer than last week without the gas supply! 😉

    Evening everyone.

I feel for anyone with power, fuel or water disruptions. We had a power cut late afternoon but it was all resolved in an hour luckily.

I’m currently missing my Xmas work do 😔 This is the menu:

    ⛄️ Christmas cocktail 🍹
⛄️ Pork, Sherry prunes and Sage Terrine, served with a pork scratching, clementine gel and pear chutney 🍐
or Spiced Roasted Cauliflower Veloté served with onion bhaji and parsley oil 🍵
⛄️ Roasted turkey (with all the usual trimmings) 🍗
or Chickpea, lentil and spinach bake with vegan sausage, herb potato, tian of parsnip and carrot, Brussels sprouts and gravy 🥕
⛄️ Festive Christmas Bauble (dark chocolate, ginger and orange mousse with ginger sponge and a mulled wine gel) 🍨
⛄️ Coffee and minced pies ☕️

I hope everyone is doing ok.

    Woollen … not wooden 🤣

    Oh dear @AuntyRach … here’s  a cuppa ☕️ and a biscuit 🍪 if that’s any good 😊

Thank you @Dovefromabove ☺️ I will enjoy that following my ‘alternative’ supper of:

Medley of seasonal vegetables in a tomato pottage, served with grilled bara slices and dairy quenelle. 😉

At least I can taste a bit more tonight.

Oh dear, sorry you are missing out on that meal, AuntyRach, it does sound good. Mind you, the reality doesn’t always match the description. Hope you feel much better soon.
