This morning I made more mince pies, for Sunday's Carol Service, and a spiced apple fruit cake for the Christmas Fair. This afternoon I went to help prepare the Christmas Fair, which is tomorrow.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Now got a very distraught Moira on my hands, she was in the kitchen, turned round, and you can guess the rest. Need to calm her down as we are going to friends for dinner. I would love to postpone our trip North, but we would lose quite a lot of money, and we are the only family that will see MIL for the rest of the year. I must say I am worried about the journey, we have to go over some mountainous areas and there is a lot of snow about. We are removing all fresh food from the kitchen, before we go, and we don't think they will be able to get out of there, except out the way they came. A lot of the poison has now been eaten, so hopefully they will begin dying soon.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Yikes, punkdoc! I had my first ever rat in my barn this summer and it would terrorize me every time I went into the hay room. By terrorize I mean it would scurry past me, and I would scream like a lunatic.

Metacomet soil with hints of Woodbridge and Pillsbury
I can see a streetlamp across the road from here … it’s festooned with frost-covered cobwebs … beautiful … ah, now the lamp has switched off … I can’t see the cobwebs any more.
The trees are covered with rime from the freezing fog … hopefully that’s going to clear soon.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
The sun has finally come up over the trees and rooftops. It's windy and cloudy. 100kmph winds predicted for today. It's cold.
I have been practising Spiegel im Spiegel on the piano to do a duet with my niece who will play the violin part. She is 14. It is a little surprise for her parents on Christmas morning. I'm getting it perfected together with the hands - a lovely piece, I hope it won't be too morbid for Christmas. It was the easiest I would be able to manage (I saw it on @pansyface 's post in November and that gave me the idea) as I am in no way a virtuoso - needs lots of practice!! I found a violin piece on you tube yesterday - another kettle of fish playing to the violin!!! Solo - I was okay - with accompaniement, I'm all fingers and thumbs!
So obviously not much happening here. No rats - except outside. Inevitable, I guess. I found a spot where they had built up a stack of black olives, so I stuffed some bait (still in the packet) under the shed. The little devils tossed it out!! Luckily, the shed is closed so no animals had seen it. I'm surprised, @punkdoc that you aren't sitting in the kitchen with the shotgun over your knees!!
On a darker note. My friend: with whom I went to UK over 50 years ago (really??!!!) has just been diagnosed with bowel cancer. She's very scared. It's operable apparently. Further tests to undergo this week. She now lives in Melbourne and it seems has a good surgeon.
Expression for today: Si le soleil luit à Saint Eulalie, pommes et poires à la folie!! Well we'll see if that rings true next apple and pear season.
I hope you all have a pleasant Saturday. Easy on the prosecco! Tui
