    Hi all

Finally got here after very long journey. The mountains are stunning at the moment, totally snow covered. Minus 12 when we went over Glenshee last night and minus 7 outside the hotel at the moment.
We May now be stuck here till the New Year.

I looked out the bedroom window and spotted a large hare near the bird feeder.  It doesn’t seem nervous with me back and forth trying to get a photo.

Wow @Allotment Boy - didn't realise you'd had such a heavy snowfall in London.
Bits of 'normal' ice around at the moment - the magical hoar frost has all gone now. Sun is shining - but v.cold!
Glad you arrived safe and sound @punkdoc and are enjoying the scenery.
We have someone coming to clean our oven this afternoon - recommended by a friend.  I tried getting it spotless myself a while ago but despite hours of scrubbing and scraping it just didn't come up to scratch.  I'm looking forward to an 'as new' look.  Apparently they take the door completely off to work on that.

  • @didyw, yes we had quite a drop last night. Apparently the M25 was shut near J23 which is about 20 min up the road from us . Contrary to popular belief parts of London can experience quite severe weather, it doesn't usually last long though.
We are starting to make use of some of the soups and veg that we froze in the summer,  have you started on that stock of runner beans yet @Dovefromabove?

Afternoon all, no more snow for us thank goodness and we didn't have so much as Allotment Boy did in London. My son's there today so not sure whether he'll get back home safely tonight or tomorrow.
OH has just ventured out for a short walk but I must admit I drove down to the paper shop this morning, just didn't fancy walking. I've done the ironing and washed the kitchen floor for exercise today and have just spent 20 mins on the phone to the SM trying to get a substitution voucher they 'inadvertently' forgot to credit me with.

Top marks to Punkdoc for getting there, bet it was a hell of a journey though. Apparently 40 people had to spend the night in a pub at Burwash, Surrey because they got stranded.

I'm very sad today to read of the lake tragedy in Solihull and the explosion in Jersey yesterday. Seems particularly tragic so close to Xmas.

Can I join the queue for the sofa @Pat E?

I've got to wrap Secret Santa pressies for our car club members as our Xmas lunch is next Wednesday. OH wanted to get silly ones and I prefer giving foodie ones so it's just chocolates. We ought really to be doing our Xmas cards as well but can't summon up any enthusiasm.

It's snowing! Settled a little but rain is forecast with a slight rise of temperature.

We went to the huge hypermarché on the west of Périgueux where I found presents for my 3 granddaughters. We also did a bit of food shopping and we bought 6 bottles of wine to take to Son 2's for Christmas and some other goodies. I've now finished present buying.
