  • It's actually +3C at the moment @Busy-Lizzie, with weakish sunshine ... but temps are going to drop tonight so the pavement and road around there will be icy ... it is a bus route so there is some salt down so that might help, but the pavement just there is on the north side of a large Leylandii  hedge and in constant shade, so tends to be chilly at the best of times.

Ah!  Anglian Water have arrived ...  they're digging up the pavement in front of Sally on the Corner's house' ... I think that's really good going. 👍

Hello all, not much to report as I've not done much today. Usual walk this morning which I didn't really enjoy. Hate this freezing weather. OH managed to walk to the dentist and back which is good news though - the farthest he's walked so far following his hip op. The bad news is that it was £148 for a filling!

My daughter's just rung to tell me my ex has been rushed back into hospital, he had a prostrate op last Sunday, sent home Monday lunchtime, then was diagnosed with covid and now can't pee. As of 6 pm they still couldn't find him a bed. Both our children are still poorly themselves so they can't go anywhere just yet but presumably they don't allow visitors to patients with Covid anyway? Not good at any time but especially right near Xmas.

Hope the water main gets mended again soon @Dovefromabove, I expect that's happening right across the country, just seen a report of icicles in a Gloucester street which looks really weird.

Enjoy your weekend everybody but keep warm and safe.

    No one here this evening.

Our phone line is out of order so no Internet on the Laptop or landline. Orange say it won't be repaired before 26th December. There are cranes from men doing roof repairs, wonder if one has hit the cable. The town centre is quite hazardous at the moment. I'm not in the town. Good thing I have a good Smartphone.

I swept and raked leaves this afternoon. I hope that's the last time.

We've still to clear the last of our leaves up @Busy-Lizzie but everything is frozen solid.

That's a real pain not having broadband, as you say thank goodness for your phone.

It was cool this morning, a bit like yours Dove, but the sun is out now and I’ve managed to pick some strawberries. I need to go out again to pick more, but I’ve run out of breath again. 🤬. Just sitting inside for a while until my pulse gets back to normal.🙄. Darn it!

  • Good morning all 😊 ☕️
    Hope you’re more comfy now @Pat E  😊
Im awake early … wide awake for some reason … think it was probably the gritter lorry doing the bus route along the bottom of the Rise that roused me and I waited for it to turn at the end and come back and by the time it did I was wide awake, so I tiptoed down and made myself a coffee and put the heating on a bit early and came back to bed and read my book. OH is still sound asleep facing away from the lamp 👍

Brrrr! -8 now. Will postpone food shopping to monday. So today I will wrap presents and make mince pies.
@Dovefromabove we must have been wandering around the house at the same time. I too had to raise the heating, I have a valve on each radiator, especially in my freezing north facing kitchen. OH insisted this morning he wanted a bretzel for breakfast so he is now out to the bakers with frozen pavements etc.
    Be warm and be safe.

Any chance of an afternoon nap you two?  Might be an idea. 😁

  • -3C here at the moment @coccinella … if I’d known your OH was going to the shops I’d have given him a list … as it is I’ll have to drive down into the village later … 😉

    Hi all

Grey and gloomy here, with more snow forecast, think I am going to stay in bed.
