    Morning all.

I've never heard of Terry Hall, but it's sad wen someone dies too soon.

We need a quick visit to the SM then I will wrap presents for my grandchildren.

  • I think you would recognise some of the specials big hits if you heard them. Classics like ghost town .

I  decided I waste too much time chasing green parakeets off the fat feeder so I have rigged up a cage using an old hanging basket in conjunction with the plastic dome that was keeping the squirrels off. Waiting to see if it foils them.

I too was sad to read of Terry Hall's too-soon death.  I remember seeing the Specials at the Hope & Anchor in Islington, just when they were on the brink of getting famous.  I was working for a small record label at the time and recognised a lot of A&R men in the audience with, as I described it at the time, their cheque books hanging out.  I have never felt so cool as being there at that time seeing that band.

1st OH had classical music playing all the time, except when he was playing it himself on the piano. Listz and Chopin were his favourites. I loved the music but when he was at work I rather enjoyed the silence. Then we moved to France in '85 and the music scene was completely different. The French had their own stars, but they had heard of The Beatles!

It's very quiet in this house as well, we never have the radio on. OH has to wait until I'm out for the day before he plays his classical and occasionally pop records and CDs.

It's been a lovely morning here, sunshine, blue skies and warmth. Hit the dizzy heights of 11.6c earlier so I got out into the garden and raked all the leaves off one of my big borders. It's now underneath a big maple tree which didn't drop it's leaves until the first day of freezing weather, then it did it all at once all over my brorder.  I picked up 5 big trugs of leaves, now safely stashed away in one of the leaf bins. Really enjoyed gardening and being outside.

    Afternoon.

Full grinch mode here. Half my team off sick and ambulance strike tomorrow. Today is my only day “off” and I’ve been hours sorting out cover and messaging people about Plan B, Plan C and Plan D. Also been SM shopping and that was grim.

Rant over… going to watch Motherland Christmas Special with a tin of shortbread and a pot of tea now.

  • Enjoy @AuntyRach, I have 122 more Mince Pies to make.... hoping the mincemeat will stretch.

  • I'm also grumpy, the bank has asked for more details from the accountant, but didn't explain very well what he needed. I e-mailed to ask precisely what he needs, and as of yet he hasn't replied, 3 days... And of course, I can't ask the accountant until I know exactly what he wants, and she always takes days to reply too.... my nerves are shattered, Christmas is not going to be fun not knowing what's going on. They don't work on Mondays, so I am giving him until the end of the day and then I will e-0mail again. I really want to information in writing so I can forward it directly to the accountant. No point telephoning at this stage.

Sorry, that's my rant over too.

it is true what they say...... the law is an ass.

How can you lie there and think of England
