  • Morning all,

Very busy here, of course. Did manage to meet Charlie in Limoges with his friends for a Christmas drink on Friday evening and one of the other mothers. It was so lovely to see how well they all get on, and such camaraderie. There'd been a competition in class in the afternoon and Charlie and his classmate were paired and had won. They were all teasing each other, all in good spirit and laughing about the secret Santa presents they'd all got. And of course, with France in the football final on Sunday, there was lots of chat about that.

I have never seen Charlie so happy, so lively, so chatty and what a really lovely group of friends he has found, smart, witty and so polite, all very happy to sit and have drinks with us, the mothers. All fluent in French and English too. I took them all a mini English Christmas Cake each and some mini crackers, they didn't realise you had to pull them with someone else, and started off pulling them themselves, hilarious. The other mum had bought hem all a little Christmas pen with a silly reindeer on the end. We really did have a fabulous mini pre-Christmas party.

Short lived break, and now seriously back to work now, without much chance to relax before Christmas, but then I do have 2 days off and CdeG is closed, so a real break.

Best wishes to all of you, @punkdoc, so sorry to hear your news, what an awful person your ex-NDN seems to be, I hope all others with difficulties manage to get things sorted and we can all enjoy a peaceful stress free Christmas.

oh my word @punkdoc! I wasn't present here when this happened to you, but I am sure I don't need the details: surely it is a criminal offence? Forget about the gas theft, he put lives in danger. Is he unhinged or something?

Here, have two cappuccini and croissants from Luxembourg.

Very cold here, still -8. OH woke up with sore throat and a bit of a cold. Looks like the sunday walk will be cancelled, too cold. 😞 Shame as I get so much mentally from walking with friends. Never mind.

    Good morning,

another very cold start to the day, with frost and ice - some of the paths are quite treacherous underfoot. Been to church, but it was warm inside the church, then had a warming coffee when we got back, so now thawed out once more.

Your ex NDN sounds very vindictive @punkdoc. Like @coccinella, I don’t know the full back story, other than he stole gas from your supply, but how on earth he thinks he can go back to court to claim costs when the case has already been dismissed is beyond me. I think he is trying to make your Christmas as miserable as possible. I hope they throw the book at him if he goes through with his threat.

Well, I’d better get on. Take care everyone.

You have right on your side @punkdoc.  This man should be in jail.
Just popped in to check on everybody - off to friends' in a tick to visit them at their 'at home'.

  • Good afternoon,  very grey and intermittent freezing rain,  so the snow is clinging on. TBH  it feels colder though the thermometer says different   heating going back on soon.  We went up the farm for our tree at last, so a trip to the loft and a busy afternoon ahead. Stay warm and dry all.

Been raining steadily here all day, but definitely warmer. Such a relief it is no longer in negative degrees C. Day at home today, OH touched up some paintwork, while I changed the bed and did laundry. Don’t seem to have achieved much, but we did sleep in until nearly 9.30.
That is one horrid ex neighbour, Punkdoc, definitely timing his latest attack to spoil your Christmas. Don’t let him! I’m sure it will fizzle away to nothing and he’ll have to pay his costs.
How lovely that Charlie is doing so well, DordogneDamsel, and that you have such a great relationship with him. Wonderful.

Afternoon all, heavy rain here, snow has all thawed and it got up to the dizzy heights of 4c this morning, although it still feels very cold to me. Braved the traffic and crowds to head to our nearest Dunelm as DIL wanted a voucher for their presie.
I wanted to look at floor lamps as I need to improve the lighting where I sit and mirrors for the guest bedroom to replace one whose frame I smashed the other day. Didn't see anything I liked though.
On the way home I stopped off at Waitrose which was busier and bought some bits and pieces, including a Christmas Cake thankfully. They had shelves full of Panetone but only a very small selection of proper Christmas Cakes - might have to go back to making my own.

Hope it's getting warmer wherever you are. Time for a cuppa methinks.

    Hello all.

It's been a bit difficult getting here today. Signal not good on mobile and no Internet until phone cable is repaired. Then when there was a signal OH hogged the phone!

Our NDN in Norfolk, elderly lady, had a fall yesterday and couldn't get up. It was lucky we rang and she was able to reach the phone. I rang the neighbours on the other side who stayed with her until the ambulance arrived at 10.30pm. They wouldn't take her to hospital, they said it wasn't life threatening like a heart attack. When they lifted her she managed to stand and shuffle a bit. They said they would arrange for an assessment and maybe that would lead to care of some sort. The other NNDs are arranging a rota for neighbours to pop round.

Good news about our cottage though, NDNs went and checked it for burst pipes and it's fine. The heating was still on at 12°.

We enjoyed the quizz evening last night, think we were 4th, won a box of chocolates. The first 3 teams won wine. We sang Carols between each round.

We went to another Carol Service this morning, coffee and Stollen after it.

    Evening everyone.

Apparently it’s 9 degrees out and will be 12 or 13 tomorrow! Rain though.

Chicken dinner on the go, and a good opportunity to update the food shopping list for the week. It’s going to be a busy week in work. Several in my team are off sick and the hospital is super busy. I have one day off next week to do food shop, Dad’s food shop and buy a few more gifts. I am hoping to be off all next weekend, but may need to fill in if the shifts aren’t covered.

You must have felt so proud and happy seeing Charlie in his element @D0rdogne_Damsel

Take care everyone- particularly the poorlies.

    Hi all.
I'm just popping  in to send hugs to @punkdoc and Moira.
Life isn't great for me right now, so I'm keeping a low profile.
