Every winter up here our mains water pipe bursts where it crosses over the mountain somewhere. This year once the snow and freezing conditions started I got organised early and kept filled containers in the kitchen at the ready. Come the end of the freeze and no sign of a burst I emptied all the containers, feeling a bit smug as so many folk down in the village (separate water supply) were complaining about burst pipes. Last night at 1am our mains pipe burst, two days after the freeze! Water company say that it must have been all the rain yesterday causing the earth round the pipes to move and pull pipes apart! Not feeling smug now as no water, no reserve and no idea when we will be back in working order. Serves me right, lesson learnt.
  • Yes sadly pipes often fail after the thaw, I think you get more ground movement at that time.

Hi everyone. I’ve been logged out for a couple of days and couldn’t be bothered trying to remember how to do it until Hubby was inside to help 🤬
weather is still coolish but sunny, so the veranda is getting lots of use.
    best wishes to all.

Dr appt at 4.30. I suppose she is just checking on how I’ve been going on the new medication. As far as I’m concerned, I’m slowly improving. Still limited energy. The appt for the Endochronologist has been put back from 6th to 25th January, so no progress there

  • Good morning all 😊 ☕️
hope the doctor is happy with you @Pat E 😊
6C and damp here today … we have a wet day forecast.
I’m awake early again so I tiptoed down and made my coffee. OH is still asleep but he’ll soon be waking … he’s at work every day until Christmas now …

Hello everybody. Been awake since 3.30 am then at 7 I got up and went swimming (ie. standing by a water jet on my back) Feeling a bit less grumpy now, it was the right thing to do. It is hard to feel the Christmas spirit, it is getting worse and worse every passing year. I have started cooking for arrival of son tomorrow, something nice to do. Also nice to find that not all cavolo nero had frozen out (forgot to cover it) and there is enough to make a ribollita for said vegan son.
@AnnaB I hope they sort the water out soon.
Enjoy the blue skies those of you with them. :)

    Morning all.

Glad you are improving @Pat E.

I took the car to the garage for its MOT, walked home, 3km, took 45 mins but I stopped to admire the decorations in the next village on the way.

    Hi all

Sunny day, which has improved my mood a bit.
Sadly, the rat man has been, and poison is still being taken, so that is not so good.
