I hadn't realized you'd be back so soon @Punkdoc but think you were wise as apparently there's more bad weather to come in Scotland.
@Busy-Lizzie, I've just found spare Xmas cards I bought last year as well so must make sure I put them somewhere where I can find them next year. Fortunately most of our decorations are kept in a small cupboard high up in the hall where they're easy to get out. It's only the Xmas tree which is in the loft and we keep that right next to the trap door. OH does that job, I don't like going up the ladder either.
I got on and cooked the dinner in case DIL had difficulties getting here, it was -2.5 at 6.30pm so we were a bit worried. There was a massive queue on the motorway junction so her sat-nav sent her on a detour along very narrow winding country lanes . We were glad when she finally arrived. Bless her, she'd bought us oodles of fresh fruit for a pud, raspberries, strawberries and grapes together with yoghurt - and chocolate Florentines to follow. She's such a lovely DIL. My poor son also has the dreaded sore throat lurgy and was looking very sorry for himself on the phone, he looks after the children and dog when she's away working.
Good morning all. -7 here at the moment, it looks as if the skies are going to be blue, at least that! In the middle of the night I heard a strange noise coming from the wardrobe. I opened it and found that one wooden hanger just split in two and fell. There were only two pairs of jeans on it. Poltergeist never likes it when I am on my own 😅😅😅
OH will arrive around late this evening, fingers crossed for a smooth journey. The books from Ireland have arrived, I am no longer cross with Kenny's 😀 This morning I am going to visit a friend who's had a health scare but all seems in order, the bus ride will be pleasant in sunny weather.
Take care all and give my best to your friend @tui34
Morning everyone, glad to hear about journeys that are safe and well. Only -4 here!, we have to go out today I have to go for an eye test to be able to renew my driving licence . It's one of those field tests it's supposed to be easier than the hospital one so I hope it goes well, but I admit to being a bit nervous.
The postman, except she was a postwoman, turned up this morning when I was still drinking coffee in bed. She rang the bell on the electric gate so I was able to open up for her. Postman usually comes around 11am. Anyway, she had my photo album and several Christmas cards from the UK. I think they must have just renewed the ink when they did the album so it's not as good as usual but it's OK.
We are going to Lidl as OH wants to buy wine to take to England. The allowance is a lot less since Brexit, but enough for us. The problem is coming back. They don't have sherry in France and all my children want it and so do we and 4L is now the limit. I still haven't seen any advantages to Brexit, only disadvantages. We all want Oxo and Bovril but that is now forbidden. France doesn't have dark beef stock. Cottage pie doesn't look right beige.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I think we’ve a couple more days of this before we get a milder spell 🤞
