Definitely don’t ring it back, Lizzie27. Some of the scam calls divert you to a premium number so you get stung for a huge bill. It may not even be from Felixstowe, there is a system scammers use to make it look as if the call is coming from a legitimate area code, when in fact they are coming from lord knows where.
Another trick is to change one digit in the number each time they call, to evade the block you have put on it.
Have you tried a website called https://who-called.co.uk/ , you can put the number in and find out if it has been reported. There are several other similar sites if you do a search.

Thanks @Ergates, I rather thought it might be a scam of some sort. Did try that website and there's been one report - and it wasn't me!

  • Evening all,

Wrote a long post, as is my won't, 🫣 early this morning, and didn't manage to press the post button.

Anyway, moving on, had a good day, busy baking, lots of late orders for cakes and mince pies this year, including the local retirement home who've ordered 230 Mince Pies for Christmas Eve. 😱

Met Charlie at school today for the review of the incident last week. Obviously, not nice, luckily for Charlie, one of the other pupils saw what was going on and filmed it immediately. Although officially not allowed, it clearly showed Charlie being assaulted by the supervisor, wrestled to the ground and hit. Quite shocking really. Charlie has been to see a councillor several times, he's ok, he thinks the supervisor has anger management issues and realises it would be impossible for him to continue to work with minors, so feeling less guilty about him losing his job. The school were extremely apologetic, but I think grateful I'm not taking it any further. They've assured me the supervisor will not be allowed to work with children again, although I'm not entirely clear how that works. Charlie really didn't want any more repercussions, and we've agreed to leave things as they are.

After that, Charlie and I had a nice meal and a little wander around Limoges Christmas Market, indulged in a hot chocolate and bought Christmas presents for all my staff, Chocolate and Strawberry Champagne. Very nice too.

Big day tomorrow prepping for 60 Christmas Lunches on Thursday....lots of vegetables to be peeled and I've begged, borrowed and not quite stolen 3 slow cookers to reheat the Christmas Puddings. 60 bite size mince pies to do tomorrow too for them to have with their coffee.

All keeping my mind off mortgage application.... well nearly.

Hope you're all keeping warm and safe, or cool for @Pat E

Catch up tomorrow, hugs to @Hostafan1 and hope @punkdoc is cosy in a Scottish pub somewhere.

So pleased Charlie's okay ish @D0rdogne_Damsel but not so sure the matter should be dropped. Unless the chap gets a criminal charge, I don't see how he can be stopped from working with minors in the future but that would cause both you and Charlie much more stress. Difficult.

I am amazed at your energy levels - you will be making mince pies in your sleep soon, if not already. Good luck with all the cooking.

I haven't done much of what I said I would do, don't know where the day went. I finished my Christmas cards and took them to the letter box in the next village. Also took bags of rubbish and re-cycling to the village bins. Mended OH's jumper and watched Strictly Come Dancing, fed the birds, got in the logs.

Would you believe that we had the wood heater going last night! It’s not very warm in the house. We did sleep well though. 😉 Snow on the ranges (Thredbo, Perisher  etc)  strange summer.

Town day for us, so we’ll be off shortly.

We’ve got a slight problem with our son. It’s his birthday on 19th andHubby isn’t up to the dive to Canberra and back nowadays. Son doesn’t want to make a return trip so close to Christmas Day as he will be coming down for the family day. Hubby isn’t confident about mailing his gift because there are a family of little b…ggers a few doors away from him, who check peoples letterboxes. 🤬  he won’t be happy to have a combined birthday/Christmas present. Der!  As if it was planned for him to be born that close to Christmas. 🙄.

Anyway, hope you’re all ok. Thinking of you all.

  • Good morning all 😊 ☕️ and hello to @Pat E  😊 … as you know it’s my son’s birthday on the 22nd … it’s a big birthday too … he’ll be at work so we won’t see him … I’ve posted his card and gift to his office and his colleagues are making sure he doesn’t open it until ‘the day’. He’s coming to us for Christmas so we’ll see him then.
When he was a child we always made sure his birthday and Christmas were separate … but now he’s an adult the fact that he has to work and we may not see him is just a fact of life. It’s tricky for him to celebrate with friends as most are married with children and most are busy at home in the run up to Christmas … but it is just one of those things. We try to make him feel special in other ways.
Being a parent can be fraught with complications we never thought of, can’t it 🙃

His birthday next year will be his 50th so we’ll have to try to achieve something special.  Don’t know what. As you said, we always tried to make his Birthday special, but his memory doesn’t seem to have helped. 😳🤭🤭

Oooo dont talk to me about birthdays. Daughter's birthday is today, another family member was the 8th, a friend is on the 22nd (snap Dove) mine is on the 27th (80th), g/son is the 28th and two other close friends are Jan 5th and 10th. And to make it even more exciting in the past, my late parents actually got married on Boxing Day - what were they thinking! Busy time for prezzies around this time of year you could say!

Good Morning! I have had the last (?) physio this morning. I have to say that I am a little better, he suggested that I get the doctor to prescribe some more. I am going to wait and see after Christmas. Son sent pics of the new bright lights that dad helped install in Amsterdam, and the lavish meal he offered him in an Indonesian restaurant. So all good there. And here too.
    Take care won't you?
