    Morning (just) everyone.

It’s just above zero 🥶 here, but still minus figures overnight all week.

Massively cut down on Xmas cards over the years and, if I am organised enough, none will need to be posted as they go to extended family via drop-off or others doing the same. I do need to actually BUY them however! I have my own tradition of buying only charity cards from our local hospice but luckily my corner shop sells them, so I am hoping to be back to work by the end of the week so I can legitimately go out to get them. I still have a couple of presents to buy too.

Keep warm (cool for @PatE) comfortable and safe all.

good afternoon all. I am going to be on my own until thur evening as OH has gone (by coach!) to Amsterdam to help son fix ceiling lights. It is strange for me as I haven't been on my own since before OH retired. There have been hospital stays unfortunately, but this is a bit different. Off he went to Amsterdam without a second thought 😂😂😂Anyway I have plenty to do, this morning went to buy substitute presents as my order from Ireland (Kenny's books) hasn't materialised yet and can't risk son and OH without pressies on Christmas morn.

No snow yet here, but very cold. The clear skies are making it up for the frost. Snow is expected tomorrow.
@punkdoc Glad you got there, I bet it is beautiful.

    Take care all.

  • You're not on your own @coccinella ... we're here to share tea and cake ... even in the middle of the night there's the 'Are you awake?' thread ... and there's always the chance that @Pat E may be around when we're having a sleepless night  :)

Afternoon all, Weather's been a bit better today and the sun actually peeped out occasionally. It's still just over freezing though. Enjoyed my usual walk this morning.

My poor daughter has caught the lurgy, sounds much like the one you had @AuntyRach, she's completely lost her voice and can't even croak. Tested negative for covid which is a kind of blessing but as she lives alone and is a good 2 hours away, I can't help but worry.

I'm trying to sort the bedrooms out and have shoved/tugged a big wooden blanket chest back into the guest bedroom, mainly because I realised it's handy for guests to put their suitcases on rather than on the floor. That means I've got to get rid of a rather nice Edwardian towel rail which will have to wait until after Xmas. I also seem to have accumulated lots of spare pillows so they'll have to go too. Why does one problem always turn into another??

OH has finished writing his cards but I've still got a few more to do. My Xmas presie from OH to me was delivered today. I'm not sure whether to open it now to check it's all ok or wait until Xmas. We've got the perfect arrangement, I choose something I really want and order it, then he pays!

Enjoy the peace and quiet @coccinella, he'll be back before you know it.

    Thanks Dove.

Got a bit of a mystery here, does anyone recognise the area code 01394 please?
I've had 4 phone calls over the last 2 months, no message left and it's still coming through even though I blocked it? It's not family or friends. Should I just ignore it or ring that number back?

I hope your daughter is doing ok @Lizzie27. Tell her hot squash is the medicine of choice. Re the mystery number - you can search it online and most ‘cold call’ numbers are identified.

Just done a batch cook to be economical with oven so the next few dinners are sorted. I had a lovely surprise this afternoon as my sister posted through the xmas TV guide. These are are practically a luxury item these days!

Thanks @AuntyRach, I'll pass the hot squash tip on.

Did the online search and found it's Felixstowe, so as we don't know anybody there will just ignore it. Not sure how it evades our call blocking though.
