Morning all, sorry you are feeling rotten again Pat E, but it's often the way that the initial hit of medication /feeling better means we overdo it in the early stages. Easy for me to say, but please do pace yourself!
I've been keeping up to date with this thread but not posting, all well in the grand scheme of things, just both my parents and my mum in law have been in and out of hospital so any gardening I'm doing is virtual only!
Stay warm as best you can, everyone, and hugs to @D0rdogne_Damsel, and all others that need them.
I'm sorry you are back to feeling rotten @Pat E, I hope you feel better tomorrow.
Cold and grey outside.
The piano tuner has just been. OH's piano hasn't been tuned since my move here. Hard to find piano tuners nowadays. This one is from near Bergerac around an hour's drive away. OH is happily playing the piano now.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Good afternoon all, t Just got back from helping at the Christmas fayre at church. It wasn’t too cold in there today as there was some heating on, which helped considerably. It’s such an old church, built with stone and it takes some heating, I don’t think we’ve done too badly with the fund raising, but the total hasn’t been worked out yet, though all the stalls seemed quite busy and the refreshments area was popular. We had a steady flow of people first thing, but it slowed to a trickle by about 1.30, and we started clearing things away from about 2 pm. I think the sunshine we had earlier helped to entice people out, too.
Take it easy @Pat E . It’s very tempting to do more than our bodies are really ready for when the medication appears to kick in. Hopefully, you’ll feel brighter again tomorrow.
Good afternoon, same here, cold and grey. We have been looking at replacement showers, when I checked back the current one was bought in 2004. I can get yet another new thermostat and control valve but the replacements only seem to last a couple of years and at over ÂŁ100 a time it's getting silly, plus there are other issues . Seems like everything is wearing out including me, oh the joy of being over 27. Â
Afternoon all, yep, grey and cold here as well, but the sun made a short appearance just before lunch so we dashed out to do a bit of gardening. I made a kind of pigeon barricade as usual to stop them tramping my tiny blue squills under the magnolia tree. Think I may have inadvertently trod on more bulbs than the pigeons might!
Sorry, don't know what happened there, hit the wrong button I guess. Sorry you're not feeling ok today @Pat E, perhaps you overdid it yesterday?
@Allotment Boy, our recently installed new shower was under ÂŁ100 and we paid our friendly neighbour (a Gas engineer) ÂŁ50 to install it for us. We could have done it ourselves apparently as it was quite easy to do. So much better than the old one. Depends on what kind of a shower you have I suppose.
@Desi_in_London, best wishes for your relatives speedy recovery.
I've had a day off today, not very often I do, and now I'm realising why, I'm bored, fed up and restless. 🙄 Had lunch out with Charlie, food was lovely but there were only two tables in the place (including us) and a distinct lack of atmosphere. It's recently opened, and is a lovely space, but quite a lot of missing finishing touches, massive windows, no curtains or blinds, not even a bit of voile, all very stark, and stupidly, as far as I was concerned, they've put tables near the windows overlooking the neighbours concrete wall and rubbish skips and the bar blocking the windows overlooking a beautifully refurbished town square. Shame.Â
Following the football and writing Christmas cards now. Christmas as ever, a tricky time for me, I'll be so glad to go into the new year.Â
Perhaps you could hire yourself out as a restaurant consultant @D0rdogne_Damsel, it certainly sounds as if the cafe you visited today could do with a touch of DD magic!
Just back from town - the additional parking signs for the golf club car park are up, the no parking signs asking people not to leave their cars on the street are up, the table, chair and stuff for the raffle are stashed at the adjacent cafe ready for putting up in the morning, all the paperwork needed printed out, high viz jackets sorted, woolly hat and gloves dug out (it will be cold at 6.45am!)... I think I'm prepared. So all I have to do tonight is watch the Strictly results and eat my dinner. Fingers crossed for a busy Christmas street market! Glad your Christmas Fayre went well @Red maple.

Another very cold and grey day here. I have been out clearing more leaves, but had to come in I was so cold.

I'm sorry @Pat E Â Â Take it easy - perhaps too much, too fast when you were feeling better.
So I'm away for a doggie walk just in case the sky opens again but it seems that it is a pale shade of blue now with a few wispy clouds.
