Good morning. Still grey and drizzly, but sunday walk still on schedule. Good for the head if not for the joints.  @D0rdogne_Damsel I love a Tiramisu 😋

@AnnaB. It is nice to have neighbours like yours. I can feel a real sense of community and I am not surprised given that you and especially your daughter is such a help to her ex.

    Morning all.

I'm glad things are gradually being sorted out @AnnaB. A sad time for your family.

It's cold here in west Dordogne too, but not raining at the moment. No frost yet.

Yes @D0rdogne_Damsel, I know the Troubadour. It's about 25 mins from my old house, at the foot of the Chateau of Hautefort. The terrace is very pleasant in summer. Years ago they specialised in duck and duck patés which they sold. We called it the Duck Place and it was very good value for money. It was then sold and smartened up and became more expensive.

I slept badly and woke late, having coffee in bed. Will have a quiet day today.

    Good morning all 😊 ☕️
I woke in the night and it was raining … the temperature on the app said it had risen to 4C now it’s saying 6C and drizzle, so the frost was just a short cold snap. 🥶

    Plenty more firewood then @“Pat E" 👍

A strong rural community can be such a blessing in tough times @AnnaB … and a Rayburn too … we had one in the old mill house on the smallholding. It kept the whole house toasty.

Getting ready today to head for S.Lincs tomorrow to visit OH’s lovely mum for a couple of days  😊 We’ll be back by Wednesday as we’ve got a Sainsbugs delivery then.

Tiramisu is on our menu for Christmas … as son is teetotal , instead of alcohol Im using a hazelnut syrup with the coffee. A bit of an Ambassador’s Tiramisu 😉

I spoke too soon, it's raining. Just when OH has gone out to mend the veg garden gate.
I'm sitting in front of the cosy stove  :)

Afternoon all, we slept late as well, nice and toasty under the new duvet!

We also had rain overnight but as it was sunny and warmer after breakfast, I decided to fling myself outside and get stuck into a new project of putting paving slabs under the bird feeders again. I tried it before trying to keep the mess underneath in check, then took them up again when that didn't work. I'm now buying chopped sunflower seeds which the goldfinches seem to manage better with less chucked out so we'll see how it goes. Stopped for coffee and a rest before doing some hedge trimming when it suddenly started chucking it down. Now it's sunny again - just when it's lunchtime.

@D0rdogne_Damsel , your description of the gaol/restaurant/dungeons made me chuckle.

Enjoy your trip @Dovefromabove, I'm off on Tuesday to stay with my daughter for a day or two, much gardening needed apparently so I'm praying for dry weather.

  • Good afternoon,  after a dull damp start the Sun broke through by 10 am but it was wet again by 2pm . Not done a great deal today unfortunately the next 2 days don't look very promising weather-wise.  I  forsee more pap*****k being done 😱.
Enjoy what's left of the weekend if you can.

    Evening everyone.

Had a long lie in, did a few jobs around the house, visited MIL and dog, and just awaiting the chicken dinner. In the spirit of a bit of energy efficiency and to help reduce any damp washing making the house humid, we re-jigged the airing cupboard as it has a high ceiling and the top shelf was just storage. The top shelf if off and a rail installed so I can hang clothes on hangers.

Such a busy week in work last week, but I have been checking in. Take care all and have a pleasant evening.

Evening @AuntyRach, chicken dinner sounds good. Shame you've had such a busy week, hope it eases off soon.

My 'airing cupboard' is in the eaves so only has three shelves for bedding and towels but does have a radiator which is the control one so is always on. I really do need to sort the cupboard out and throw away old sheets and towels.

  • Good morning all 😊 ☕️
A frost again this morning … the gritters have been out on the roads … we’re heading through the Fens today to visit OH’s mum near Stamford …we’ll avoid leaving too early; let the frost get off the road surface first.
    Keep warm everyone.

  • Good morning everyone, no sign of frost here, but the gh thermometer says a low of 3.4 overnight.  Nor as damp as yesterday's start but rain forecast.  Have a good journey Dove.
