Glad the sun shone for the funeral @AnnaB and that it was so well attended.  We will be attending our NDN's but no date for that yet.  She died a week or so ago.  She was a sweetie (but could be curmudgeonly!) and declined quite quickly after lockdown.  But in her late 80's I think - a smoker who voted for UKIP as they were pro smoking!  Her son lives 2 doors down the other way so he is sorting everything out.  We helped her out with shopping during lockdown as the firm her son worked for didn't furlough their staff so he wasn't always available.  It will be interesting to see what her house goes for when he sells it.

    Good afternoon.

Bright and sunny it was yesterday morning until about 1pm when it clouded over and rained.  It was cold too.

Bright and sunny again today - so far so good.  The sun is streaming through the conservatory doors so the lounge should heat up nicely until I light the fire.  Haven't put the boiler on yet.  I have some diesel bt will hold off filling up the tanks as it is around €1.50/litre (apparently is has decreased in price).  I'll wait.

@AnniD I am glad the sun came out for the funeral.  Such a sad time.  Phew!

Hunter's day today so I will walk the dog to a friend's place for a tea stop!

Wordle done.  Wood in and the fire set for later.  I have even wrapped some X presents!

Here you are:  A Sainte-Delphine, mets ton manteau à pèlerine.    Yup!

    Have a pleasant day all.

    Hi all

Well it isn’t raining, so I suppose that’s an improvement, but it is so grey.
I know we are very lucky having lots of mature trees, but at this time of year, all we seem to do is collect them up.

It has turned into a pleasant day here today, though it’s starting to get that mid afternoon gloom look now.
We popped out to a nearby GC for homemade soup which was delicious (pumpkin and carrot today). That will keep me going until dinner tonight. There were lots of Christmas goodies for sale, but I resisted buying anything today, but I must say their collection of poinsettias were very tempting. The trouble is, I don’t seem to be able to keep them very well once I get one home, they start to wilt and drop their leaves - it’s probably too warm in the room for them, or perhaps I either over or under water them. A shame, as I really like them.

Started raining here late morning and it's still doing it. I've finished my Christmas shopping (from the comfort of my desk). Just hope the postmen don't muck up the delivery.

We've decided to do a tour round the country to drop the presents off just before Christmas rather than risk the post office. Booked a couple of nice (I hope) hotels - dog friendly (it would be better if we had a friendly dog, but never mind). Something to look forward to, as I'm not doing Christmas parties again this year. Will get my Covid booster, finally, this week, now it's more than 4 weeks since I caught it. Hopefully I'll get the flu jab at the same time or at the pharmacy shortly after, if not. Interesting news about the universal flu vaccine. Having had both the flu jab and the flu in the same year before, that sounds like a very good idea.

Far too wet for gardening. May get the seed catalogues out.....

I've spent a lot of the day writing Christmas cards, the ones destined for the UK. I have a big family, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too. I hope I have enough cards. They are expensive here and I had to leave some in Norfolk as they wouldn't fit into my Ryanair bag. Not finished yet.

I did some minor fence repairs and OH mowed leaves. Sunny this afternoon.

Hi all, we're in a rather chilly Stoke on Trent and shortly going to meet up with family for the first Xmas meal of the season. Seemed easier if we all ate the same thing. Had a brilliantly sunny journey yesterday up the Old Fosse Way to my sister who laid on a smashing meal last night for us. Lots of wine was drunk!

Have a good weekend all, with commiserations for those feeling poorly.

  • Hi everyone dry but mostly cloudy   still collected some leaves,  our old Bramley apple, still has most of it's leaves. Cut the grass,  hopefully for the last time this year,  but so mild it's still growing.
