Good morning all 😊 ☕️ Heavy rain here all night and forecast to continue … I will run OH to work in the car this morning otherwise he could be damp all day … he has good wet weather gear for cycling but it doesn’t keep him totally dry.

@AnnaB Your post was not long at all. I am glad you felt you could talk to us. I am sorry to hear about it, I hope your daughter will have some rest: she seems to be a very nice and generous person.
Very windy here last night. Grey this morning but still warmish.
Morning everyone, more heavy rain here too. I agree with others @AnnaB it's good to get these things clear in your mind. Hope things warm up a bit for you @Pat E.
I don't normally post on Forkers, but l just wanted to send my sympathy @AnnaB.
I'm glad you felt able to press "post"', and that setting it all out in print gave you some comfort. As l posted elsewhere, this forum is like a big family, and at times like this it can be a great help.
Well, it's been an 'interesting' morning so far ... OH was due to start work at 10am ... he usually leaves here about 9.40 and it's a 10 minute cycle ride ... and about the same in the car, although by a different route. However at 8.25 (I was still in bed ) OH had a call from his colleague E who was supposed to be opening up the shop at 9am (so usually gets there 8.30ish) She was stuck in traffic due to a police incident in the Gt Yarmouth area (there's only one road out north of the river), could he go in early? Of course he could ... I pulled some clothes on, he made his flask and, as it was still persisting down and I'd already said I'd drive him in we got into the car ... we left at 8.31 ... as I said, a ten minute drive ... in normal traffic ... but it wasn't normal ... local radio was warning of huge holdups on the A11 Newmarket Road due to an accident on the ring road ... we could vouch for them ... at about 8.58 we were about two thirds of the way there and he had a call to say E had arrived before him 🤣 ... I dropped him at work at about 9.05 and I turned around and came 'straight back home' .... arriving at 9.50 ... good job I had nothing major planned ...

Sympathies to @AnnaB and I understand exactly how you feel in needing to get it all down - I was the same when my father died, going over and over it to try and make sense of it and, I suppose, hoping for a different outcome. And more recently, when my friend died, aged just 46, that night I lay in bed and it felt as if the world had split open a little bit and I could glimpse Death lurking. I hope your daughter is getting enough rest to help her cope with the practicalities of what is to come.
Wet and windy here - not surprised there have been accidents @Dovefromabove - I read of a road closed due to one near here this morning. Hopefully it will all have spent itself today so we have it nice and dry for our Christmas Lights Switch on tomorrow.
Our local history society's AGM tonight. I love being on that committee - always very gentle and interesting. We are one of the (unofficial) consultees for the planning department of our local authority and it is always interesting hearing the older members talking about a house where the owners want to build an extension as being the one where old Mrs so and so used to live and didn't she keep chickens? And when we get to 'any other business' on the agenda - that's when all the juicy gossip comes out!
Sympathies for @AnnaB - we just heard that a friend's younger sister has died just a few days after cancer was discovered.
A more enjoyable Autumn job for me today - processing my 4 Chinese quince fruits to make jelly and membrillo. The fruit (which is nearer in size to true quince than the Japanese variety) fell a couple of weeks ago and have been ripening slowly in a cool place since, turning a delicate yellow from their initial hard green state. My camera tripod comes in handy as support for the jelly bag.
Condolences to you and yours, @AnnaB. I hope it has helped writing it down and posting it - not long at all, by the way. It’s good to know that your daughters employer has been so understanding. Nothing of note doing here today, it’s far too wet to get out into the garden, and not the weather for going anywhere really, either. Instead, I’ll peruse this thread and then read my book for a while. Enjoy the jelly making @steephill.

I read it all @AnnaB and send my sympathy. Good to get it off your chest. I hope things work out for the family with the running of the farm.
I'm glad @Allotment Boy had a good day out yesterday.
OH fancies a pie and I've just realised that I forgot to put butter and flour on the shopping list so we'll pop out to the SM. It's only 5 mins away.

Take care all.

The stream now has white water and is the deepest I have seen it this year.
