  • Good afternoon,  as it was dry and bright for a change we went for a walk up the farm road, it's not the most exciting of walks but makes a change.  Good luck with everything @D0rdogne_Damsel, I  don't know where you get your energy.
Sorry to hear about the cold @Pat E our poor planet is all topsy-turvy,  too warm here in the North for the time of year,  all a bit mad.
We went to see From here to Eternity at the Charing Cross theatre last night. @Hostafan1 would have loved it lots of half clad young men in army fatigues.

Afternoon all, bright and dry here as well for a welcome change. Did my usual walk this  morning, then got out while the sun was still shining and potted up 5 Hyacinths Delft Blue and 10 Tulips China Pink, all in black plastic pots so I can just drop them into borders if I have gaps or into nicer terracotta pots if I prefer.

I was pleased to get an email from the stonemasons to say that they have cleaned and re-painted the lettering on my late Mum's headstone and as it would have been her birthday next week, we'll try to visit asap. Timing's a bit tricky as we've several trips already planned.

That's exciting and nervewracking in equal measure @D0rdogne_Damsel, do hope all goes well.

    Well done @didyw.

We're done with wobbling about on stepladders @Ergates trying to clear gutters, much easier to employ people to do it for us now.

Steak and chips for us tonight I think. I bought some mushrooms to go with it and they won't keep for long.

    Have a good weekend everybody.

It’s been a nice warmish day, thanks Dove.  It’s starting to cool off a bit now with clouds gathering in the west, but otherwise ok.

    glad it’s a bit milder @Pat E
We’ve had more rain overnight … it looks very soggy out there.

Good morning all. Cold here - we walked into the village to the butcher's this morning. We've had so much rain this week the roads are all wet and this morning they are icy - a bit dodgy in places but we made it there and back without mishap. No plans this weekend, which makes a nice change. Probably watch a bit more of the new series of The Crown, maybe sort out some seeds and pootle around in my greenhouse. Might make some soda bread tomorrow. I can't remember the last time I had a free weekend  :)

    Good afternoon everyone.

Temperature is dropping, but we are warmer than your northern climes.  We have the proverbial wind, but through a cloudy sky, the sun is peeping through.  Not a drop of rain.

Got stuck into the cupboard that homes the codlin moths and their families this morning whilst my stuffed cabbage rolls were cooking.  What a jolly nuisance they are!  I have put fresh bay leaves in all the packets which are in a plastic box with bay leaves scattered around the base.  I hope that works for a while.  I buy the sticky traps from the supermarket for the cupboard door, too.

For today:  A la Saint Urbain, Ce qui est à la vigne est au vilain.  Meaning it was usually the poorest that picked the small bunches of grapes that were left after the harvest.

I hope you all have a pleasant weekend.  Make sure the Prosecco is well chilled.

    Hi all

Horrible day, supposed to be dry, but horrible fine rain, that gets through everything. We have been clearing leaves, but i have left her to it and come in to get warm.

The Lights Switch-On went well yesterday.  I missed it as we were in the church selling raffle tickets (in aid of the local foodbank).  We sold over 300 tickets at £1 each!

Came home to find that our heating isn't working.  We have hot water but the radiators are cold.  Luckily we have a convector heater to take the chill off in the living room and it's not too cold at the moment.  Rang the plumber this morning and he is coming on Monday - thinks we need a new diverter valve.

And SIL will charge the battery on the car (again) but thinks no battery can stand being charged regularly in this way  He blames me I think for not driving it for long distances enough but I really can't be doing with driving 30 miles in one go once a week.  It was only charged a couple of weekends ago.  I didn't drive it for a week, drove it 8 miles and then a couple of short journeys ferrying stuff into town then it went flat again.  That's just wrong - I shouldn't feel guilty for not driving the car for a week.  What if we went on holiday and left it in the airport car park for a fortnight?

What will be the third thing?

Oh dear @didyw … fingers are crossed that the third thing isn’t major 🤞
